I think God is my best friend ^^ I talk to him as if he's my best bud here on earth, of coarse i don't use cuss words or obcenity... xD
I tell him my secrets all the time, I don't even write my secrets in my diary xD anyways even though he's not physically present, I can feel he really was listening to me, cuz some weird things happen, like when my family and I were going to visit my relatives by boat, I prayed real hard that nothing bad would ever happen, I squeaked and beg to him that the boat wouldn't sink since at that time I didn't know how to swim yet (6yrs old) When we arrived safely I thanked him, the following morning when I woke up, I wondered why there was a big fuss, my parents told me that the boat we rode yesterday just sank this morning on its way back, I was like O.o, but then immediately thanked him for listening to my prayers...

I look at him more as a best friend since I'm more open and close (lolz) to my friends rather than my parents... xD Come on I can't talk to them about love, social stuff, blablabla xD though sometimes i call him Dad xD

so anyways, nice question O.o

He is both, he created us all. And he is here with us. He only really helps when you really want his help. Lets say if you wan't to quit a bad habbit, he'll give you strength but he wont put the cigar in the ash tray; you feel? In the bible is says; ' Get close to god, and he will get closer to you.' Remember that. Thats forreal and this isn't no Christian mumbo jumbo, it's as straight and honest I can be with you about this subject. I hope recognizing this fact that God as both a parent-friend helps you out in a religious way.

How about a "partner". Not an equal partner for sure, but Quantum says we are co-creators in that by observing, we collapse the wave function. Trouble is, we usually get what we expect to see. Something about humans only being able to fit uncertainty into symbols we already understand (are in our library).

Personally, on a moment to moment basis, I try to involve God in my day as a participant. On the one hand I say "thank you for the day" and on the other ask for great parking spaces. Mostly it works pretty well.

Communication is good. It's easy to talk but Pride makes it very hard to "hear", so we have to keep working on that. I have found a (free) exercise which has helped greatly, link below.

I honestly think he is both, and what do you mean by the christian mambo jumbo the word of God is not mambo jumbo, in him we move and breath and have our being. Since you consider him "God" as your friend why don't you want his word?

Psalm 119:130 The entrance of thy word giveth light;it giveth understand unto the simple.

Psalms 24:1 The earth is the LORD'S,and the fulness thereof: the world, and they that dwell therein.
Again I say Have A Blessed Life & read your Bible everyday, this is a Daily walk until it's our depature time.....

I think of him the same way. I can tell him how I feel and don't have to worry about him juding me. I don't go to church every Sunday like I did when I was younger. I feel like whenever I am faced with a certain promblem he understands what I'm going through and gives me the best advice. When I don't know what to do he gives me the answer. When my back is up against the wall he helps me out every time. I don't know if you have watched Steve Harvey's comedy special where he closed out with his introduction to God. nuff said.

Both, I agree.

God shoves me around, pushes me about. That's a lot like a parent. God speaks very little. God expects that I have One good eye, a decent brain and if I can't see what he shoved me in front of or what I'm supposed to do, then I need more training!

Absolutely!....In fact,it sounds crazy but I'm not,He sits on my left side all the time and I feel Him there and sometimes almost see an energy form there so I talk with Him and believe He's God.Our Creator is my best friend totally...unconditional Love and friendship. And Parent.

this is no mumbo jumbo my friend. God is my father my brother and my best friend.

i used to have difficulty with God in my relationship with him as a father, since my own dad was really strict, not fair sometimes, and i could never reason out. i thought God was like that too as a father. but he is not. he is the best father in the world.

i hope this helps you since it is from my heart. no mumbojumbo

Yes, there are different aspects of our relationship with God, awe & reverence, servitude, friendship, parental etc, God is actually the best friend of everyone, your statement is very nice.

Coming from the Deist school of thought, I think of him more like an absentee landlord.

He created everything, put human beings in charge of it, gave us free will and doesn't expect to be called or blamed when we screw it up.

And from the looks of things, I don't think we should bank on getting our security deposit back.
