He's definitely lacking in some basic manners, courtesy, and respect. He probably thought it was amusing, didn't have any idea most other people would think he was being an *ss.

Yes, absolutely. It doesn't matter what date it is, a guy shouldn't be pinching a girl's butt regardless. It's rude!

This is an answer you have to come up with on your own. Did YOU feel uncomfortable when he did this? If so then YES he is a jerk. If not, then well you can chalk it up with a silly flirt. It is all in how you percieve it that makes what he did what it is to you.
Personally, I would have knocked his two front teeth out, but that is just me... he would have at least left with a constant reminder of how to treat a lady!

He is immature, nervous, trying to be cute/sexy....but it ain't working. A girl with any self respect will not appreciate this on a first date.
