A lot of the diety cereals also have protein and fiber in them, which will keep you full longer. Protein also helps burn fat when you exercise.

If you are watching calories and eating under a reasonable amount every day, sugary cereals can fit in there, but you will probably be starving an hour after you eat them, and when you exercise, you'll be burning off that sugar instead of your fat stores.

Calories are calories, but other nutrients (proteins, fats and carbs) different in the amount of energy (calories) they supply. To loose weight, you need to count calories. However, if you want a balanced diet, that's another story.

You probably need to increase fiber and proteins. Stick to complex carbs (no refined carbs like sugar and regular flour). You may want to look into getting granola, adding some milk and making that your morning cerel. Whole Grains are best.

The simpler the carb the faster your body breaks it down into single sugar molecules, which gives you that high. Of course, your body responds to this overload of glucose by releasing insulin. Insulin sends out the singnal for your body to STORE ENERGY.

I wouldn't eat real sugary type cereals, you want to try and find ones with a few grams of fiber, low fat and reasonable calories. honey bunches of oats and just oatmeal are both good choices.

a lot of "diety" cereals are whole grain and have more substance per cup than the sugar-puffed junk, so you're getting more FOOD, more nutrition. That means you can eat less cereal and still feel full.
