LOL comes from folks that use chat rooms a lot. It is short for Laughing Out Loud. Here is another one ROFLOL. Rolling On Floor Laughing Out Loud. BRB= Be Right Back BBL=Be Back Later. CRS= Cant Remember Stuff. etc.

One of the most common abbreviations in chatrooms besides Hi and asl (age/sex/location).
"lol" means laughing out loud. Its often used in funny situations and especially when someone dont understand a word the other is asking or saying .. just LOL your way out of it.
