You can go to your states Department of Corrections webpage and search this way. You can find out the website for the prison you are interested in and look this way. In my state, you need the name and the number assigned to the inmate. (DC#)

You can go on line and check the county to see if they were picked up or you can call that prison and tell them that you are looking for that person and fear that they may be in jail. As long as you have a name and date of birth they can check and say yes or no.

Depends on your state. Lots of states have a Department of Corrections and you can look to see if they have a particular inmate. At least I know you can in georgia.

Try to google your state Department of Corrections.

Yes. For federal inmates: http://www.bop.gov/iloc2/LocateInmate.jsp

For states, most have online systems. Florida's for example is: http://www.dc.state.fl.us/AppCommon/

Links to other state inmate sites: http://www.ancestorhunt.com/prison_search.htm#Prison%20Inmates%20Search%20by%20State

yes, if you're in Michigan (maybe the entire U.S.?), they have something called OTIS, (possibly named after the loveable drunk of the Andy Griffith Show!). Just go to your browser and type in 'OTIS' and it should pop up. it will ask everything you know about the person (name, birthday, tattoos, male/female...) and hopefully you"ll be sent a small bit of information detailing where they are, or a full page with mug shot and stats. Hope this helps?
