How dangerous is a hait straightner really and are they good to use the night of a dance?

i say straightners r the most dangerous weapons on earth.
it just blows my mind the injuries ive seen. i would never use a straightner!

I use my hair straightener every day, and it's amazing. I have this stuff, "BedHead: AfterParty" that I use a little TINY bit before I straighten it and a little bit afterward. Don't ever use too much spray/anything before you straighten your hair, it'll fry it. Also, don't use it when your hair is wet, it will smell SO bad and be terrible for your hair! And it's fine to use the night of a dance, as long as you use it beforehand to see how it will look. You should always do this before a dance, though. About everything... Hair, Make-Up, Clothes. That way it's not a huge deal that night...

Japanese hairstraightner is the best It last about 6 -8 months I would not do it the same night as the dance do it 2 weeks before.

chemical straitners should only be done by a professional.
if you are talking about a flat iron, they are fine to use. you should be using good shampoo and conditioner for your hair type. I would reccommend using a leave in conditioner, heat sealer, or thermal styling product to protect your hair form the heat. test the flat iron on a piece of tissue paper, if it discolors the paper it is too hot. never use a hot iron on wet or damp hair, you will singe it!!!! I suggest Matrix Sleek Look Lite styling cream to use when blowdrying, and their heat sealer to go with it. use carefully, don't burn yourself. it may be a good idea to put a comb between your scalp and the iron to prevent burns especially around the hairline and ears.

They can be dangerous if you use it every day. It could give you split ends most of the time, and of course you can straighten it the night of a dance, just don't do it every day. Good luck & have fun :)

they're really safe...although you shouldn't use one everyday just like you shouldn't blowdry your hair everyday either. heat styling products can dry out the hair and leave it feeling more like straw but if you use a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner when you wash your hair then it should be ok....and yeah. you can definately use it the night of a dance. ;)

ok test it out first befor the night of the dance because if it dosnt work out u will look bad dont use it offen use spray first and get a high quitly one

It can be bad for your hair, especially if your hair is already unhealthy. There are products out there that protect your hair from them specifically, go to a Salon or sally beauty supply for it, NOT wal-mart
