Here's a list of religions, listed as a percentage of the US federal prison population (1997):
The Federal Bureau of Prisons does have statistics on religious affiliations of inmates. The following are total number of inmates per religion category:
Response %
---------------------------- --------
Catholic 39.164%
Protestant 35.008%
Muslim 7.273%
American Indian 3.222%
Nation 2.320%
Rasta 1.987%
Jewish 1.773%
Church of Christ 1.744%
Pentecostal 1.463%
Moorish 1.426%
Buddhis 1.180%
Jehovah Witness 0.890%
Adventist 0.831%
Orthodox 0.502%
Mormon 0.399%
Scientology 0.254%
ATHEIST 0.209%
Hindu 0.159%
Santeria 0.157%
Sikh 0.019%
Bahai 0.012%
Krishna 0.009%
Hmmm... note that the Judeo-Christian Total works out to 83.761%. Not an unexpected result.
Note that ATHEISTS, being a moderate proportion of the USA population (about 8 - 16%) are disproportionately LESS in the prison populations (0.21%).
Pretty odd result, for a group that has no god-given guiding moral principals, huh?

that's it blame it on GOD again. I don't know if going to church just once a year makes a person a devout Christian or not. We have freedoms that most of the 200 nations in the world you mentioned don't have that allow people to mess up and be criminals. most crimes are petty. check you facts please. don't go by what the news tells you. media is a story teller to earn money first and foremost. i feel very safe and i live in a big city. i can protect myself and my family if need be and it is legal. if you are in a public area and someone acts up in Scandinavian are you prepared to do what should be done to protect the innocent? I AM PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN. My family helped found this great country. if you don't like it then don't live here. But if i am in your country and someone hurts you while this old grandmother is standing near I will help you - no matter what - because I am a Christian.

of the 80% that go to church at least once a year... half of them ONLY go one a year. Walking into a church makes nobody a Christian. England and Austrailia have much lower crime rates than the US... yet they have the same amount of people going to church. Answer that?

the subject with crime interior the U. S. has many sources. Poverty, loss of hazard, failure to take possibilities presented, a feeling of entitlement, etc. to declare that there is a causal link between Christianity intense crime is like announcing there's a causal link between the barometric rigidity and the cost of porkbellys, even however there is an noted correlation between the two. even however Christians have self belief in forgiveness, the have not got self belief in loose license. we are to forgive others of their sins against us, yet that does no longer recommend they, we, or anybody can escape the implications of sin. in case you thieve from me, i'm going to forgive you for it, however the government will nonetheless throw you in penitentiary and rightly so. enable me ask this, Christians have self belief that we are subject to the government that are in skill over us (see Romans 13). They added have self belief that it extremely is misguided to thieve, kill, etc. various places the Bible tells Christians to abide by applying the regulation and to conflict against sin, such because of the fact the sin of homicide, stealing, etc. With a faith gadget that abhors the movements being carried out (ie- crime) and instructs its committed to refrain from this interest, how can or no longer that is declared that Christianity is a reason?

Nope. It's the NOT religion, it's the so-called hypcritical believers and religious leaders of the Christian church.
Any religion has it's bad eggs. It's up to the good eggs to weed 'em out.
Christianity advocates forgiveness of sins if a sinner confesses to God through Jesus. Unfortunately, this line of religious thinking is used by evil people as a license to continue committing crimes against others. Assassins who are Roman Catholics pray for forgiveness for the sin they will commit then blow someone's brains out. Some guilt-ridden prostitutes pray for forgivness and still continue to prostitute themselves. Homosexuals and pedophiles who are outstanding community and religious leaders justify their lifestyle and perversion and say "Only God can render final judgement on me and not men." I don't need to tell you about Waco, Texas and David Koresh do I?
As for the non-Christian beliefs, their low crime rate is credited to their culture which inculcates discipline and fear of immediate punishment for committing crimes.
Peace.

Get real. Christianity is certainly not responsible for any high crime rate anywhere. Demented people are.
DuckPhup! Affiliations? In prison? Ya, I'm real sure that's a for-real statistic! Affiliations means nothing.

we have a high crime rate because: we may go to church, but actually 20% of that 80% of americans admit to being christians, and 5% of that 20% are not hypocrites, and are fully hardcore faith driven christians.
in one century the percent of recorded christians has gone down 80%. sad isn't it, because that means alot of christians are not being christians.

sorta, Christians are closed minded and the hate everything they dont do themselves and alot of that goes on so if they are in charge, (the house senate and prez are mainly republican) then thats all those people go down. (its screwed up that someone who sells weed does the same amount of time as a rapist) So yeah it definatly has something to do with it although not completly responsible

No. If anything, Christianity does quite the opposite. Christians are good, moral and respectable people who only want to help people.
