I've always felt happy to help out a friend if they need money, if they need more I'm happy to help then too. It all comes back in it's own time and I like people a lot more than I like money. I can't remember anyone ever stiffing me, but I have had some take a long time scratching it up. I said things like don't worry about it, it's cool between us; you don't have to give it back. I've found out though that can really burn up someone elses pride and I'm not about that sort of thing at all. So if some one took a little longer it was fine with me, I understood how important it was for them to get it back to me, it wasn't about me or the money anymore; it was about them....moving forward; becoming that person they always were. It's a wonderful thing to see, what someone is going to be; especially when it starts to happen in front of you. It's the magic maybe. I am honoured to call someone who owes me money and knows that they can come to me for more if they need it, friend. It's nice to know if I'm ever in need ( and I have been, Oh God have I ever!) it goes for me too.

A good word is "sponger."Don't lend this person money and tell them why.And don't let this person talk you out of your decision. The only safe way to lend money is to have that person sign a contract that you write out, stating how much is being lent and terms of repayment. This contract will allow you to take the person to small claims court if repayment is not made.

You are so right. If you lend them money be prepared they will not return it. Try to give them 10% of what they ask for.
