Taco Bell is barley mexican food. if you go to the good taco places in mexico you get the tacos with just the meat that you want. and they have about 7 to 10 little bowls of stuff to put on them. like different kinds of salsa and lettuce, avocado. grilled onions. but that is in mexico. in the states depends on the place how they serve thier food.

Taco Bell is americanized mexican food. It's not authentic. Even if you go to an authentic mexican restaurant you won't usually get lettuce and tomato, although some will give you an option. This wasn't Taco Bell who started this though, I think that's just how people are used to them, because it's more familar than the different types of salsa a more genuine taco would have. But, the way I see it, both are delicious, they just aren't the same thing. It's sort of like comparing a hamburger to a prime rib. Both delicious, and both come from a cow. . . . Can't substitute though!

they give you that option if u want lettuce and tomato. they usually only come with the meat and chopped onions and cilantro. they usually have so many little containers with like, tomatos, lettuce, salsa(MANY diff. kinds), lemon wedges, etc. so u can put what YOU want on your tacos.
pork is delicious!

taco bell is NOT mexican food...there are NO burritos in mexico, i don't know why they have them on the taco bell menu...i've seen them in commericials on t.v. but i don't go to taco bell.
i laugh at the fact that people think burritos are a mexican food...they're not. burritos were invented by americans.
if you go to mexico and ask for a burrito, they will have NO idea what your talking about. they'll think your talking about a mule/ baby donkey....that's what burrito means in spanish.

Recipe Ingredients:

1 Tbsp. Vegetable Oil
1 lb. Beef Steak cut lengthwise into thin strips
1 large White Onion sliced thin
4 cloves Garlic finely chopped
3 Jalapeno Chiles (both green and red, if possible for color),
1 large Green Bell Pepper thinly sliced
1/8 tsp. Cumin
10 Cilantro Sprigs
10 Mission® 8" Soft Taco sized Flour or Corn Tortillas

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Recipe Instructions:

1. Stemmed and slice the jalapeno chiles across the grain. To reduce the heat of the chiles remove the seeds.
2. Heat oil in a skillet and add the beef, cooking until done. Remove the beef and put it on the side. Cook the onion, garlic, and chiles in the drippings until they are limp and just beginning to brown.
3. Slice the beef into bite-sized pieces. Add the beef to the vegetables and cook, turning, just to heat the beef and brown the onions.
4. Spoon an eighth of the mixture onto the center of the tortillas. Serve immediately.

There many different kind of Mexican Tacos (authentic Mexican Tacos) and to my knowledge none of them come with lettuce.

Tacos de carne asada (tacos with flank steak) should not come with lettuce or tomato; You are the one to decide what to put on the tacos. You can add guacamole or salsa.

Taco Bell does not come close to authentic Mexican food. I will say that the food in Taco Bell is more like Tex-Mex food.

Depending on where you purchase or make the taco depends. Originally taco's did not come with lettuce and tomato on them however when they were introduced to the U.S. alot of retailers decided that these items were added for flavor.
