I believe it, but without a doubt, it helps Bush & his peeps.

Who could forget the crowd at energy maven Ken Lay's funeral? Mom & Dad Bush and former Secy of State James Baker.

It's time to replenish those campaign coffers!!!!

But there probably is a real problem. With global temperatures going up, and with especially elevated temperatures in the Arctic, the permafrost is thawing--- that means less stability for the pipelines, which already have problems with leakage.

Is it convenient and lucrative for the price of oil to go up and have the supply restricted? Of course. Plus it reminds people that there's oil in Alaska so that the Republican party and their friends in oil can move forward their agenda to drill in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.

By the way, enough is enough when people start changing their habits, start buying more fuel-efficient cars and keep their tires pumped up.

No more boo-hoo'ing from Big Three's CEO's please. Just deliver a better product and stop bitching about consumers who dont want your gas-guzzlers.

Or is it a fact of being proactive......when they can shut down for 3-4 months after spilling just 5 barrles of oil at a cost of $436.00 and clean up and fix a 32 year old pipeline or would they rather spill to the capacity of the Exxon Valdez and spend hundreds of billions of dollars cleaning it and getting themsleves into finacial ruin...???? Hmmmm which would I do, shut down 8% of my company for 4 months or go bankrupt???? Tuuf choice.

I agree that Bush is a loser and we are paying way too much, but thats almost nobodys fault but our own......write the big 3, and demand a better car. Brazilian cars mostly run on corn, get the same speed and milage, and the cost to fill p is less than breakfast for one.

The XL pipeline will proceed to fund the tar sands technique in Alberta, it incredibly is destroying the ecosystem. it incredibly is between the main important carbon emitters interior the international. Canada is the seventh best emitter interior the international, and it will in basic terms worsen now that the Conservative led Canadian government withdrew Canada from Kyoto. it additionally will decrease by using environmentally gentle lands in Nebraska, and sure they replaced the direction, it nevertheless is going by using environmentally gentle land. the quantity of jobs produced from it as quickly because it incredibly is all mentioned and finished is negligible. the only human beings pushing it as a jobs writer is gigantic oil and their supporters. And individuals should not be assuming all of that oil is for usa. little doubt maximum of it's going to be shipped to different international locations out of the Texas gulf ports.

I believe it, they probably sat on thier azzes and doled out all the money and did no maintainence then when it breaks the prices go up.......really pretty obvious. Wish I could do a job and fork up and tell the customer, oh well I have to double the price cause I forked up (note the I part). What a racket.

Hey, how about starting a story that Dick Cheney shot some holes in that 30 year old pipeline so his pals at Halliburton could make obscene profits repairing it?

Yeah, I know it's a lie, but no bigger than the one you're telling, and yours isn't the least bit humorous.

First they shut down the pipeline. Hopefully, next they will come over to your house and shut you down so we won.t have to listen to any more of your stupid conspiracy theories! Have a little more faith in your government.
Oh, and in case you weren't paying attention, this shutdown was done privately, not by the government.

No President Bush went to Alaska, breathed on that pipeline and it oxidized. He was just trying to be mean.

I'm fairly sure the circumstances have been reported accurately. I'm just not so sure about the reasons for maintaining the shutdown, rather than making repairs or replacements.

I'm sure there are ulterior motives, just not certain what, or whose, they are.

The treehuggers are the ones behind. It was easier to shut it down than to have to deal with them. My friend in Alaska just told me today 'the real story.'
