whilst plane fly on a northerly path they're following a 'super Circle' path. A 'super Circle' path is the shortest distance for the time of a sphere (the Earth). each and every of the meridians (longitudes) and the equator are super Circles. If the sphere (the Earth) must be shrink into 2 equivalent hemispheres the airplane of the shrink is a huge Circle. there are a number of greater super Circles, yet their situation-free characteristic is the line of the Gt Circle around the exterior of the sphere will shrink the sphere into 2 equivalent hemispheres.
