I'm not going to sugar coat it nor am I going to frighten you with my own story.

Unfortunately it's a way of life, however new dental procedures are making impacted surgeries easier than they were when I had mine removed---count yourself lucky.

Go prepared, eat light, swab plenty of vaseline around the corners of your mouth before and after. Make sure the dentist gives you an anti-biotic and a GOOD pain killer for afterwards. Drink plenty of fluids and change the guaze as indicated, don't chew on that side for 12 hours after surgery, and don't chew anything heavy for 24 hours after that. Have plenty of ice chips at home to have something cool to keep the swelling down.

general dentists and Otho's like to refer u out although they train this is dental school they don't want to deal with it they need certain instruments for surgery and a lot of time and anesthesia.. sometimes they can break off at gum line then they got to dig out hard so oral surgeons is best they have more stuff to do it.. i worked for ortho Dr.. plan on 150 - 200 a tooth
