did she get hired by the school? whether she's illegal or not, shouldnt the school hire someone who speaks english? i mean she's a guidance counselor!!!! it just makes me so curious!

Well there is alot of illegals who have children who do not speak English. So now school districts have to hire bilingual speaking teachers and guidance counselors to meet the ever growing demand for Spanish speaking professionals. Sad really.

Who knows if she is illegal or not..what bothers me is if you are going to a school in the states then why was she hired ?? If she can't speak English she has no business being a guidance counselor in an American school. Point Blank Period!

I can't believe that someone fell on this prank and believed that this was a serious question and not a joke.
Even if she was from other country, she has to speak English to work in a school.
By the way, there is not enough teachers, but a lot of counselors, former teachers who don't want to be in the classroom and prefer to work counseling.

Anyone who works in a school as a counselor has to have a credential. I'm sure your guidance counselor speaks English. It may not be good, but good enough to pass the credentialing exams.
Now, if you go to a private school, all bets are off.

How do you know she doesn't speak English? Have you sat down with her for a session? Maybe she's hired to centralize on the Spanish-speaking community primarily, but must be assigned a certain number of overall students and you have only seen her talking with Spanish students

maybe she mainly helps spanish speaking students...but then again it makes sense to have a bi-lingual counselor to work in the school...
i doubt she is illegal...maybe she is a contractor hired from another country.
