If you feel that God isn't important or even existant, why do you feel so compelled to try to stop others from believing in Him?

Because they are little children who are spoiled and cannot have their way. But instead of picking up their toys and going home, they want to rant and rave and stomp their feet about how God is not real.

No matter how much they rant, the truth is the truth. God has built in all of us a searching. Their searching has left them empty and longing. But they feel if they can disprove God, then they will not have to account for their sin.

(P.S. - look how many athiests are here answering in the religion and spirituality category)

I just wanted to clear something up. If you dont believe in god for scientific/mathematical/logical reasons, then you obviously do not believe in satan as well like most atheists do. If they believed in satan and not god, then they would be satanists.

Anyways about the question, the reason why an atheist probably feels compelled to stop Christians from believing in god is because by all means the bible by all means makes no logical/mathematical/scientific sense IF YOU TRY TO CONSIDER IT HISTORICALLY ACCURATE. I think the biggest miscomseption is that it is considered historical fact when PEOPLE MISS THE LARGEST POINT OF THE BIBLE is its morals and beliefs like not killing people or being a good person, stuff like that.

Good question. In my experience, I have found that Atheists talk more about God then many of the Christians I know. I also find Atheists far more preachy, and would even go as far as to say "Evangelical", than most Christians I know.

You would think that, if one didn't believe in God, then He would not be such an issue. I don't understand this kind of obsessive behavior. If God doesn't exist, why are Atheists working so hard to "disprove" God?

Listen, I am an atheist but I do not preach to people. If your god and your religion and your faith gives you hope and keeps you going day to day, great! I just get really upset when you people that believe in a god rip all those that don't and start telling us where we are going to go and we should repent and beg for forgiveness.
All I am saying is, don't preach to us and we will not preach to you. Stop adding God into all your answers. If I ask a question, I don't want to hear about God's plan or anything else to do with any god.
I am a reformed Catholic / Altar boy. I chose to look at the facts as I see them.

All an Atheist is someone who has not yet found his or her truth. You need to be loving and accepting of this search for their truth. Not judgmental and defensive like many so-called Christians are. Many who think of themselves as atheists just have trouble believing that a god that is supposed to be unconditionally loving could ever allow someone to be judged or punished.

This is a logical question that more Christians need to seriously consider.

A question you might ask yourself is why does this search the atheists are on bother people so much?

If their own faith in what they believe in were strong these things would be irrelevant to them. There must be something about their belief system that they are uncertain about or the questions these atheists pose would not be troubling to them.

Think about this. It is the real key to finding the peace you seek on this issue. The insecurities we have do not originate external to the mind that believes in them. Remember this and it will help you.

Trying to understand is a good first step.

Love and blessings to you.

I often wonder why people are so insistent.

They don't even really want to look at the facts. Are they afraid of something?

I believe that it is partly that people are taught not to believe in God from an early age. Evolution is stated as a proven fact with looking at the evidence. To talk against atheism is almost like calling a person's mother a liar.
This has a lot of emotional attachment.

It is something like Santa Claus. Why give gifts in his name? Trying to be honest is a difficult job.

Most people simply don't want to make a consistent effort.

It seems all that atheists can do on here is attack Christians and any other religions who believe in a God. I know that there are respectful and good atheists, but I certainly dont see any, and I dint understand why other atheists do not stand up to other fellow atheists whom are just tarnishing & ruining the view of atheism from members of other religions.

AND TO EVERYONE THAT SAYS " Stop trying to make us believe!", YOU DONT HAVE TO LISTEN TO IT! AND I DO NOT SEE PEOPLE ON HERE SAYING " BE CHRISTIAN!" "BE CHRISTIAN!" I think the real truth is, that some Athiests are bothered by those whom are actually happy with their faith.

Um, yeah I don't try to stop people. Although I wonder if people see our stating our opinion to be trying to do that? I mean, my saying I don't believe it's real isn't any different then a Christian stating they believe it is, or any of the handful of common phrases of being a believer. If it's not telling us what to believe, then I don't exactly see that as doing so.

So if I just say that I don't believe that gods are real, then how is that trying to stop you? I guess any mere mention of such a thing is trying to convert you, because people can't take a simple opinion, while the opposite is not just the same? Please, enlighten me.

They probably feel that they have to prove that we all who believe in a higher being are sheep and are wrong, in order to justify the emptiness that they feel in their own souls for not believing. If they were WRONG, well now, there would be something to fear from all of the horrible, immoral things they do with their lifes (to be fair, I'm sure not all atheist are amoral, but I have yet to meet one who isn't) and they would find out that there are consequences, not just in their lives, but after. A scary thought, to those who have few morals. I, personally say that they are welcome to not believe in a higher being, I won't force them to, but they have no right to try to force me to lose the magick and wonder that religion has but there. I think the world would be a cold, lonely place without religion. Sorry if this is a little ranty, but it bothers me, even if I'm not a Christian.

Why do you feel it is so important to get those who don't believe to change their minds? I'm not trying to get anyone to change their beliefs, personally, but I think it's ridiculous for any Christian to pretend to be persecuted. You haven't been in the minority since about 400 AD. Stop whining about how everyone is making it so hard to be a Christian. If people want to believe in God, so be it. If they don't, leave them be and stop trying to fill up the world with more converts. It's offensive to atheists and agnostics to be told we're "going to hell" for not accepting Jesus Christ as our saviour. Don't you think we have a right to defend our own beliefs, the same way you do?

same reason u find it so important to make atheists believe in god. We all wanna be right and we think imposing our views on others will make our beliefs the truth. We are all wrong to do this. U also gotta remember religion and ppls beliefs are a huge personal issue, ppl feel the need to defend their beliefs and sometimes it comes across as ppl wanting to convert u when really they are not, they just want u to understand where they are coming from.
