Definately, atleast until he is house trained and knows all the rules, crate train him.
Start a routine, feed him at the same time every night. Take him out afterwards. Romp and play **a lot** until it's time for bed. Put him in his crate with a little treat. Make sure the crate is in a quiet, dark room that won't be disturbed too often at night.
Also, make sure he is getting enough physical activity during the day. Puppies cannot play enough! lol You can also put a toy in the crate to keep him occupied incase he is awake and bored.
*Just wanted to add this*
I would highly discourage you letting him sleep in bed with you. It might work sometimes but most likely you and he or she will get very little sleep. And afterwards, it will be *very* difficult to break them of the habit. Which is bad, especially if it's a big dog lol not to mention if he's still a puppy and isn't completely house trained. I doubt you want to wake up with a mess in the bed next to you!

Like This...
1. Put a piece of clothing you wore (no buttons!) in the crate with your pup.
2. Put a alarm clock with a ticking noise or anything resembling a heartbeat near the crate.
3. Make sure the pup has water and a few kibbles.
4. Remember, pups need to expend their energy, so a long walk after dinner is helpful.

Pore little dog, since it's a puppy, it might be missing it's mom an awful lot. Well, one way to make it sleep is to give him a short wash or a bath before it sleeps, then bring it to your bed and give it a few kisses and let it sleep and once it's asleep bring it to it's sleeping place. My other idea is to put a clock to make it replace it's mom's heartbeat and after a month, then take it out and let it sleep by itself. My last one is to ignore it and if it starts to cry or whine, try to come over and talk to it and go back to bed, if you put it in your arms, it'll fell better but one day it will know how to get to your arms, by crying or whining!!Also, you might want to put a little treat or some doggie biscuits and if they're gone, don't give it anymore Hope you good luck with your little pup, but I wonder what breed it is?

Have your puppy sleep with you, they will sleep better and you will be able to feel them stir and know when they are awake so you can take the to the restroom. I have used this method with all my puppies it works great.

I am sure he is sleeping when you are not around. The thing is to get him to sleep when you do. Of course you can put him in your bed, or get him a doggy friend so he will not be lonely. Dogs do much better in pairs.

You should crate train your puppy. He will cry for awhile, but it will be good for him or her. Put a soft blanket and some toys in there for it and this will be his safe area. I would go to your local petstore and they will give you plenty of information on proper crate training. Good luck!

Place a shirt that smells like you in the box or cage they are in and under it put an alarm clock that ticks. The ticking sound reminds them of their mom's heartbeat. The baby misses its mom and possibly you.

Play some music, hold him, put him in his cage, and just IGNORE him when he whines. He'll fall asleep soon. But before you put him in his cage, making sure he's gone potty, been feed, and has water. Good luck!
