It's not just "believing in God" but believing God became a man, suffered in agony on a cross, spent 3 days in hell, and for what??to pay for ALL of everybody's sins... That is what gets you to heaven...there are rewards and consequences for behavior other than hell after accepting Christ's payment for your sins. It's kind of like this...a guy is on death row and I say to the judge, I'll take his place--he's obvoiusly sorry for what he's done, I'll die instead...judge says "ok" I die and man goes free...now either he can be thankful for what I did or get a stinky attitude and live life to the fullest--either way, he *knows* I paid his debt to the court--it's a fact...can't change it...Christ paid for my sins...I know it...can't change it...2+2 is not 5...I know it's 4 just like I *know* I'm going to heaven because of Christ's payment and only his payment for my sins--not because I'm good enough to go. (because I'm not---trust me...no one is...)

Hello friend,
You asked a very important question. And if you'll give me the time, I'll tell you what the Word of God says about Salvation.

First, to answer your question directly, no simply believing is not all God's Book has to say on getting to Heaven.

The Bible has a lot to say about Salvation and some folks simply do not take the time to read all about it. I will show you some places you can look to get started.

Using whatever version you're comfortable with, please check out these passages.
1) God's Book says one mush "HEAR" the word: (see Jn.5:24) (Ro.10:14)(Jn.6:45). Please note that to "Hear" does not mean you have to hear audible words. Deaf folks can have the Gospel communicated to them perhaps through sign language foe example. Hear basically means the Word is communicated and received.

2) A person who's heart is receptive Will "BELIEVE" what they've "Heard". (see Acts 16:31)(Jn.6:47) and (Jn.20:31). Look also at (Jn.6:45) to see how the Father "draws" you to Himself.

3) A person will "REPENT" when they've heard and believed the Gospel. (see Acts 2:37,38) (Luke 13:3) (Acts 3:19). Repentance is turning away from sin and toward God.

4) A person will also "CONFESS" (see Matthew 10:32) but don't forget verse 33 while you're there. Then check out Romans 10:9,10). This is a hard thing for some folks because they may be shy or timid in front of their friends or family. But Jesus is more than able to strengthen them.

5) A person will be "BAPTIZED". Many many people get caught up here. Some want to prove a doctrine or put you under a legal system of forced obedience, but friend, it is not like that in God's Book. Biblical Baptism actually has two parts. Mans part is to be Immersed in water for the remission of sins. (Acts 2;38 etc.)
God's part is done by God the Holy Spirit when He baptizes you into the body of Christ. Please read 1.Cor.12:13.

Friend, this is a very short look at what is involved in Salvation. I prefer the words Jesus uses in Jn.3:3 "BORN AGAIN".
Salvation is being Born Again or sometimes called the new birth.

I am not presenting a formula or a set of do's and don'ts in order to get to Heaven, nor am I saying that the above is set in a certain order or ritual you follow and get Saved. But rather, I've listed some helps for you to consider as you search God's Book.

Don't forget to ask the Father for His help as you read, otherwise
you'll be depending on human understanding. The Bible is a spiritual Book and can ONLY be understood with God's help.
Please read 1Cor. 2:12-14 emphasis on vs 14.)

This is a lot friend, but well worth your time. Where you are for Eternity depends on your response to Jesus.
I hope to see YOU there!!!
Blessings,
2 Tim. 2:7

Whether you're a believer on an atheist, you still end up in some type of heaven. Where you find yourself after death depends on your weighted good deeds in the immediate past life & not really what you believe?

There are so many heavens than you can think of. If you're a xtian, note the use of plural "heavens" in various places in the bible & read 2Cor.12.

The more the love & service you give to your fellow humans & other creatures, the better your place among heavens. Your stay in heaven may be temporary if you have to come back to earth or a lower heaven for retributions.

There are people who experience heavens while still living on this earth though. Such spiritual experiences abound in virtually every religion among the commited few followers. However, such previledged ecclestial adventures are hastened in some spiritual movements or practices like meditation, buddhism, eckankar, hare krishna, AMORC, etc.

Well are they in for a surprise if they don't fine the key. Jesus says I am the Way, the Truth and the Life and NOBODY comes to the Father but by me. that is the start to learning "The Way."
Even satan believes in God, do you think he is going to heaven? The way into the Kingdom is through the King. He has the answers. Read the Gospels in the beginning of the "New Testament". These books could have been written as a testament of their own because it in a mindset at the end of the "Old Testament", and just prior to the New Covenant that took place at Pentecost.

Not me - I believe you must follow ALL of His teachings including belief, repentance for wrongdoing, confessing Christ as your Savior, getting baptized for the forgiveness of your sins, and living a faithful life - but overall no matter what we do we wouldn't be saved except by God's grace! :) These verses may help you understand my beliefs - Luke 11:28; Mark 16:15-16; Acts 2:38; Mark 1:15; Matthew 10:32; & John 8:31. And here is one helpful web-site to consider - http://church-of-christ.org/who.html#howto
A lot of people seem to want to believe but keep living sinful lives instead of making any real changes and really that is between them and God but I wanted to fully convert to Christianity following ALL of God's & Christ's teachings. I hope you do too! :)

IF there is a HEAVEN, I always thought doing good works for others and being a good example for those was the way to HEAVEN. But, alas, believing sincerely in a belief system can get you there. For instance, Christians insist that accepting Jesus as your Lord and Saviour will get your there. Muslims, on the other hand, believe if you sincerely believe and practice Islam will get you into HEAVEN. etc.

Jas 2:19 You believe there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that. And they tremble!

Mt 7:21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven. Only those who do what my Father in heaven wants will enter.

Only God knows, and each individual knows whether he is in heaven or in hell.
It is not simple at all. True religion teaches that nearness to God is heaven and remoteness from Him is hell. And likeness to God is nearness to Him. To understand the concept of nearness and to conduct a life in His likeness is not easy at all.
After all, what are the easy things on earth? None.
Proper education is required to be followed with diligence and patience for any one who wants to conduct a decent life as a real human being.

I believe in God.
I believe that i will go to heaven.
Yes it seems that simple. but when people, Christians, are being persecuted all over the world for their faith, you realize your life has been given to serve God. and its not like you will be placed into servitued, but you will have a choice to have a relationship with your Creator, Father, who loves you no matter what.

To have a simple belief is insufficient.

"faith without works is dead"
"If you love me, keep my commandments"
"repent and be baptized"
"Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, [even] unto the end of the world. Amen."

There is a lot more to it than JUST believing, because "even the deamons believe and tremble" but they will not be allowed to go back.
