If you found only a few fleas, soak a cotton ball in alcohol and dab where the flea is. It will kill the flea instantly. In the future, I would invest in Frontline or Advantage. It's a little more expensive but definitely worth it! Good luck!!

Please don't use Hartz! There is safer flea treatments out there. Hartz has been shown to cause reactions in a lot of dogs, and doesn't really work all that well. You should use a product from your vet, as vendors only sell to licensed vets. Frontline is a good product to use if your dogs like the water, and it will kill fleas. Advantage is a good product to use if you live in a heavily flea infested area, since you can use it every day with no harm. Revoultion is a product that will treat fleas, ticks, mosquito's and help prevent hearworms (although, I have heard complaints that its flea protection isn't that good). You could also try a product called Capstar, it's a tablet that you give to your dogs orally and it will kill any flea on them within 24 hours. Also, remember, that summer time is the worst time for fleas, they are everywhere!

Ugh don't use Hartz it's not the greatest stuff out there. Better off using a product like Frontline to prevent fleas and eggs that may still be around and not on your dog but will pick up later.
Spray down bedding areas with a flea and egg killer as well (not to saturation) Also spray along baseboards and under furniture.
You may have to repeat that again in a week just to make sure you got any eggs that hadn't hatched yet. Use sparingly, the stuff is toxic but if used properly safe. I'm a big advocate of using natural methods to rid a house of pests....but fleas are hardy little creatures and I'm not taking chances of a huge infestation that requires a flea bomb.
For in between times that we flea shampoo the dogs we use Sauve shampoo. It kills the fleas, is cheap and doesn't harm the dog....you can also choose any scent you want to use. (I like coconut or strawberry for them) It is just not a long term flea killer like the sprays or Frontline.

get a flea comb and start combing them off, if they are jumping around on them and are spastic then that means the fleas are dying, most poisons attack the nervous system and it'll take a few minutes for them to die. Make sure you have sprayed (with everything off the floor including underneath beds and shelves) or "bug bombed" the rest of the apartment or house before you let them back out otherwise you've just wasted a treatment. Also, the best solution to keeping fleas off is to take them to the vet and get them on front line or advantage which is more effective then flea baths and collars. Also the vet can give your dogs a pill that will kill all the fleas on them at the time i think it's called capstar or something to that nature. Good luck, fleas are nasty our cat has had them recently.

It may take up to 24 hours to actually kill all fleas. If you have adult fleas in the house you probably have the other life stages, so there may be more fleas soon. You may want to consider area treatments as well, since flea shampoo is rarely if ever effective as the sole means of removing an infestation.

Hartz is VERY weak crap & flea soap ONLY kills what it TOUCHES when WET!!
You already HAVE fleas in the house!!! They only stay on dog to FEED & THEN leave to lay eggs! You MUST do premises work & use a topical insecticide!
