Show him pictures of obese kids and say "That could be you! Now drink up!"
Not that I can say much. My 16 month old daughter likes the occasional sip of soda too =) Your son should have no problem drinking through a straw. It's just that he is probably bothered by the fizz. Let your soda get a bit flat (like a half empty 2 litre). That will be much easier for him to drink.
p.s. For a "junk" drink you should try giving him chocolate milk or strawberry milk. Nesquik makes both flavors and you can even get it with extra calcium. I think it also adds extra vitamins so its tasty and healthy.

Milk is way better than soda in many ways . I would never give a three year old soda , first of all the child needs milk and dairy until he/she is five years old . Secondly , soda can cause tooth decay , obesity, stomach problems amongst other things . My advice as a foster mother and a person who is in the medical profession is , DONT GIVE THE CHILD SODA AT ALL !

I dont think it is very good that you are trying to make your child drink soda. When my brother and sister were babies, I tried very hard to get them to drink water. Janea, being the littlest would drink it. She didn't know any better. My brother, was about 3 and knew that I had put water in his sippy cup everytime. He would refuse to drink it. Now that they are 9 and 10, my sister loves to drink water. More than any other drink. My brother rarely drinks water, and he is not very healthy. He wont even go outside. Now I dont think the water has made him like this, but I think that everyone should drink more milk and water. Soda isn't healthy in very many ways. Let your baby drink what's best for him. You want him to grow up healthy and strong right?

I have absolutely NO idea why you would want him to drink soda. That, to me, and the rest of us here, is crazy. Milk is good for your kid, soda will just make him covered in zits one day, and fat. America is FILLED with those kind of people, why would you want to help that out? Let your kid drink milk. He seems to be on the right track, and just a little-bit smarter than you are acting right now.

Are you nuts? Soda is not good for anyone, it is full of sugar or if diet full of chemicals. If you want to cut down on his milk intake give him real fruit juice or water. But forget the soda. It's no wonder so many kids today are battleing a weight problem when parents start them off as babies on soda pop.

You're kidding, right?
Just in case you're serious-- Don't get him hooked on soda too early. It'll rot his teeth and burn out the lining of his stomach. Have you seen what a can of Coke poured on a car hood does to the paint? And did you know if you soaked a steak in Coke long enough, it would completely dissolve the steak (or so I've heard).
Milk, fruit juice, and water are much better for him--and you.

You are smart to stear you child away from milk, but soda may be a bad start too. How about a nice middle ground, juice. Juice doesn't contain the blood and antibiotics that milk does, and no caffeine or artificial ingredients.

Soda is not good for anyone, much less children. Why would you want to encourage your child to start drinking soda? If you have to use an alternative, try a fruit drink, it is much healthier for the child.
