If you think about it, science is what has created the wars to be more dangerous and harmful. If is not the cause, is the right hand of war that is caused by the difference of cultures, ideas and "religion", like many say : War is God's fault.

Science stopped to lose it's "innocence" when it started to create atomic bombs like the one in Hiroshima. Science is the creator of the technological wars, that is whats killing innocent civilians in the present.

If it wasn't for science people would be fighting with rocks and sticks. Anyway science was used in every civilization, even in the Roman civilization when Wars occurred all the time.

I already know the answer to my question, and I think is pretty funny. Before blaming God for the cause of War, also blame the Science and Technology created by men.

I already know what answers to expect. I just think it was funny to post it.

Duh I am not saying that technology is the cause of wars. What I am saying is that people USE technology to cause wars.

ChooseRealit... Honey......:sighs: I am posting this in the R&S for a purpose. I read comments from ignorant people who point their fingers at God for the cause of War, when the reality is that is the greed of Man to seek for money and power to cause war and they were the ones who invented the technology to destruct, not God. People claim they kill in the name of God, but that's not the real reason.

Uh then I should have wrote the question as. Isn't science the true collaborator of War?

Oh Whatever. God Bless.

Rickster, you are the true moron for not reading my entire post where I wrote: Anyway science was used in every civilization, even in the Roman civilization when Wars occurred all the time.

meaning that War has always been present.

I feel I made a good point, and if you don't understand it is because you are slow.
Only one person got my statement.

That's why I said that I don't really care about the responses I get because I know that the atheist fanatics are going to disagree with me. I just though my statement was funny to me.

You have made a great point. The point you left out is man fights man. It used to be the men went to battle. Without all of the things that Science has created we would be still fighting with sticks, and rocks. Man does not want to take the credit for the atrocities they commit so they blame God. Somehow this eases the mind and conscience of all mankind.

How do you rationalize the claim that science is the cause of war when war has been around far longer than science? I agree with you that technology and science have made war much more violent and easy to wage in the modern world... but if science didn't exist there would still be war. War is brought about by differing ideologies and a failure to reconcile them. I'm not even going to dip my toe into the religious implication even though this was posted in the religion section. This should be in the Society & culture - other category.

[EDIT]

"Duh I am not saying that technology is the cause of wars. What I am saying is that people USE technology to cause wars."

You're question was "Isn't science the true cause of War?"

How are you NOT saying Sci/tech is the cause of war? You've implied it quite plainly in your question.

[EDIT]

Why then did you blame science for war? This is clearly a bait and switch... not a valid argument.

God is not responsible for war. However, peoples religious ideology can be and often is. Our current situation is painfully evident of that.

I would offer that technology hasn't made war more deadly. Human stupidity is what makes wars deadly.

Case in point? To this point American casualties in Iraq have been less than 3,000. Go back a century to the Philippine Insurrection, and American deaths were more than 5,000.

Or during the first hour of the First Battle of the Somme in World War I, The British lost 60,000 men in one hour. No recent conflict approaches this appalling toll.

And even during the Second World War, the Atomic Bombings of Nagasaki or Hiroshima were not the most deadly military actions of the war. After all, more than half a million Chinese were killed by the Japanese durng the Sack of Nanking in 1937, and every one of those deaths were caused by bullets and bayonets.

In fact, you can make a very prononounced case that war has actually made wars less deadly. For example, aerial bombing is pinpoint today, as opposed to the carpet bombing characteristic of World War II, creating far fewer civilian casualties. Meanwhle if you look at battles fought in classical times, you see horrendous military and civilian casualty figures. The battles of Cannae and Marathon were fought with spears, arrows, and swords.

Are you fricken retarded or something?! There always has been, and always will be wars as long as there is always something for human beings to fight over, regardless of what technology is around at the time. Maybe we should be fighting a war against illiteracy you moron.

P.S. Science and technology is responsible for everything you've ever used, for example the COMPUTER you used to post your stupid question. Do you have any respect at all for all the brain power that has gone into all of modern science and technology? Has religion ever done anything like that? You owe your entire life to science and technology.

well the use of sticks and stones is still technology. And Chimpanzies have been shown to engage in organized war between different groups. So war is from something deeper than religion or tech. In war religion is just another form of tech. It makes making war easier and more effective. Just look at how it is being used by the Christians, Jews and Muslims in the world today.

But why were nuclear weapons developed? Yes, it took science, but who funded it - and why?

And after seeing the effects on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Oppenheimer spent the rest of his days trying to stop the development of such weapons.

And it was President Eisenhower that warned us that we should be very concerned about the growing military industrial complex.

And it is this military might that Bush (and others) has used and abused to carry out his own agenda, all the while pretending to be a Christian, following his dillusions that he was told by God that He should lead the U.S., and proclaiming that "God is on our side."

And whether you choose to accept it or not, more people have been killed in the name of God than for any other reason in the history of humankind.

faith and capability are the two significant issues that reason conflict. There are different motives, yet those are the two significant in historic previous. Scientists created those weapons for defense in conflict. technological know-how does not reason conflict. call one conflict that grow to be reason in basic terms by way of fact of technological know-how. i'm no longer an Atheist, yet i'm only providing fact.

War has nothing to do with science or God it is all man. Man will fight over anything for anything no matter the price. It is all a big p*ssing contest. They my use science for ammunition and God for an excuse. But it is still man that makes the decision.

Ok, that kind of science is bad, radical religion sucks too. And religion provides the motive. Hiroshima was terrible and anyone anyone who wouldn't erase advanced weapons from history is dumb. But that is not the cause of war, it is the means. Greed and desire is the cause. I would defend science but bomb/guns don't deserve anyone to defend them.
