She's an 8 month old bengal leopard....i have not yet been able to afford to spay her. I feel horrable for it because she's miserable. But until I can get her spayed, is there anything I can do to calm her down?

I'm not cheap, i've been niave in thinking she needs a "special vet" and have also been considering breeding her. But this is her second estrus and i've found it difficult to find a male for her. I wanted to ask if there was anything i could do until she is spayed....which will be soon!

Contact a local shelter, most shelters have clinics to get your cat fixed for a very affordable fee. All six of my cats were fixed at clinincs. They have a liscenced vet come out every so often and alter cats. I work a t local shelter and there are so many unwanted cats right now, we have almost 300 adults and over 100 kittens right now. My bengal came from a rescue, not every cat finds a good home. Also the sooner you get her fixed the least likely the chances will be of developing cancer, which will kill your beloved pet.

Call your local Petsmart, Petco or animal shelter and ask about a low- or no-cost spay. Most areas do offer this. You really need to do it soon too - if the little lady gets loose she's about guaranteed to get preggo. One thing the world doesn't need is another litter of unintentional kitties. As for calming her down, I hate to tell ya but you're stuck with a moaning lunatic until she's done. My first cat was the only one I've ever let go into estrus and she would sit in the shower and howl like she'd just lost her best friend. She did this for six weeks, every morning at 4:30 am. I wanted to shoot myself. I found a shelter who would spay her for $50 and borrowed the money to have it done.
Please do the right thing by your kitty - she depends on you to care for her!

no unfortunately, there's nothing that can be done to ease her pain. she will just have to get over it, so make her an appointment now, that way she can be done by the time the appointment comes around. it's better to have them spayed while they aren't in heat because there are extra risks involved. if you have difficulty paying for the cost of the operation, go to your local aspca/spca or humane society, and ask if they have any way to help alleviate the cost. most are governmentally funded and some provide vouchers for a certain amount off to a participating vet in the area. the one in my town gives out $25 vouchers ( you have to ask for them though because they don't normally come out and say it). also, talk to people you know about the vets in your area, call around to find the lower price, but you want one that has a good reputation. the majority of the expense is in the anesthetic that is used, but normally it's not much more than $100-$150 total. hope this helps and good luck.

"Special vet"? You're kidding me? That baby needs to be spayed ASAP. Don't keep putting her thru this. I find it unfathomable that you're not being responsible in fixing her while spending all this time and money on pampering her. She doesn't need a "special vet". She needs a good vet and needs a good vet right about a week from now. Eat ramen noodles for a month if that's what it takes for you to have the $75 to spay her.

my cat has been "fixed", a long time ago, but as far as we can tell she's got what we call a "proud cut". that means she still has the urges, but she can't ao anything about it. we find that it helps to beat her up! (i know it sounds funny).
just grab something like a fly swater and gently beat her over the rump with it. it will take a while, so be prepared for a sore arm. if she rolls over on her back, keep beating her gently just under her tail. eventually, she'll have enough and if she is anything like our cat, she will grab the swater and bite it. just let her have the swater and leave her to it.
it works for our cat. good luck! and be extra gentle since she is still only 8 months old.

let her have some, or warm water works to but u gotta keep doin it, swatter hey, theyre havin fun in that house !whoa! n e ways if you want to breed her nows the time better get it done and over, if your not ready theres nothin you can do. get some ear plugs, or put her in another room. um, even after i fixed my boy cat(dont know if its the same for girls but probably) he still did his man stuff n sprayed n such till 1 1/2 to 2 months after he was fixed b/c he still had the hormones in his body. finally stopped thank heaven!

I don't think there is anything you can do. Just get the money as soon as possible and get her spayed.

She`s not miserable. My cat used to go into heat every other week... but then she escaped and got pregnant... but you should just let nature take its course until until you can get her spayed.

there isn't really any possible way to calm her down. Getting her spayed is the only way to do it.
