Is lemon really supposed to streak your hair? I heard if you squeeze lemon on your hair, let it sit , then wash it out, it will. If so, does it work on red-dyed hair? If it isn't true, what household product can I use to naturally streak my hair?

Im a student in the field of cosmotolegy. (hairdresser)

The lemon juice will lighten your hair, but not alot. It will only slightly lighten it. Make sure you condition your hair good after you do this thoguh!

If you want it lighter though, I would deffinetly go to a salon and have it highlighted.

Hope I helped.

I'm not a hairdresser but I've used lemon juice to streak my hair - it's really subtle. You have to put it in, then sit in the sun until it dries. My hair is light brown and it adds really faint streaks.

or you can just try beach blonde
the lemon thing sounds pretty much the same
but lemons are more than likely better for your hair
but doesn't lemon have strong acids that could mess up your hair dye?

I'm a hairstylist. Do not, I repeat do not use ANY household products on your hair. This is a good way to get a chemical burn on your scalp. Just spend $5 and get a highlighting kit at Wal-mart, if you won't do the right thing and go to a professional. : )
