I have 3 cats, he is the youngest of the 3. He likes to poop all over the place, in my closet, clothes and towels laying on the floor, in the bathtub. I have 3 litter boxes in the bathroom, living room and bedroom. They all get cleaned 3 times a day/ The other 2 cats go in the box, for him he thinks the box is optional. What can i do with him?

There are many reasons, he may be a finicky cat and not like sharing the litter, even though it's cleaned regularly, the smells still remain in small doses and cats have sensitive noses. He may not like the type of litter (some have sensitive paws etc) he may not like the position of the tray. The other kittens may have ambushed him at some time whilst he was using the tray and deterred him from it. He may be sick which can cause them to associate pain with pooping and because it's been done in the litter box, he's thought that was the cause of the pain. Since he's the youngest of the three, does this also mean smallest? The tray might be too high for him or too big. Try a shallow plastic dish with about 1" litter in it.

What do you do? After feeding him, immediately pick him up and take him to the litterbox. Gently taking his paw, help him scratch and he should do the rest. If not, you might need to stimulate him to do it with a cotton wool dipped in warm water, rubbed over the anus, just like his Mom would do (but she uses her tongue, don't do that lol) If he's successful, make sure you give him a nice pat.

Good luck, it should only take a few times for him to get the idea.

When I got my kitten she wasnt litter trained yet so I just placed her inside a big cage with a litter tray. Probably shes just an intelligent little creature or what but she immediately got the idea to go poop in the litter tray and not outside. So after 1 week in the cage, I was finally able to let her out to roam free in the house (she's an indoor cat) without any problem at all

I had a similar problem with my cat urinating in the clothes and paper. I got a cat litter from the pet store that has a cat attractant in it.
It worked like a charm and after a few weeks with this I slowly switched to normal litter with no more problems.
There are several brands out but the one I used is made by "Better Way" with SANEL cat attractant
I hope this helps . Good luck!

Edit: Make sure the litter is always CLEAN! they will find another place to go if it is stinky

Sprinkle a little water in the litter and place the kitten in it. For some reason, this seems to make cats want to use the litter box.

You can either keep him in the room with the litter box and see if that helps, or you can take him to the litter box about every hour. He'll finally get the hint that that is where he needs to go.

Put him in a small confined room with a litter box. This usually works within a week. If you try it and it doesn't, try different litter, he might not like the smell or the feel, or maybe the box is too big, and its scary for him.

This is hard to do but we had to do it. You have to put the kitten in a room by himself WITH a litter box. He has to stay in there until he learns. You can go in there and play with him and feed him but that's it until he gets the message. It's hard to do but I'm guessing you want to keep him.

Rub his nose in a fresh steamer (most effective if you catch him in the act) then immediatly put him in the litter box and don't let him out for a few minutes. He'll get the message eventually.

when he's about to go, then you should bring him to the litterbox (but he might go on you, but I'm not so sure since I don't have any problems with my cat). And if you see his poop somewhere, you should carry him over there and let him see it and then scold him by hitting his nose (softly though!). I'm not sure if that'll work, but it might. You can also spray water on him when you see him go to the bathroom somewhere else and if he does go to the bathroom in the litterbox, you can give him a treat maybe to make him know that he's supposed to go there instead.
Sometimes, you should bring him over to the litterbox just to make him know.
