My dog has black dots everywhere around her body. It is on her fur and it looks like black pieces of dirt, except a little bigger. What is it and how can I get rid of it??

I took some of the "dirt" and put a drop of water on it but it didn't turn red so what else could it be? Or can it still be Flea Dirt?

She has mites or fleas. Go to the vet. You're going to have to clean where she sleeps and dust it, and then bath her with special shampoo and dust her with anti-mite or anti-flea dust. Good luck. The sooner you take care of it the less likely they are to get into your bed and couch and then on you.

Usually that is flea dirt...otherwise known as flea POOP!!! The flea drinks blood from the pet and poops out dried blood. Get some Advantage or Frontline. The fleas are all over the house too. Then watch for tapeworms. Dogs get them from fleas.
48 hours after the Advantage, give the dog a bath!!!!

Sounds like flea dirt (feces). See the website below. Take some of the dots and get them wet. If they turn red, congratulations, your dog has fleas! You can use Advantage or Frontline Plus to rid the dog of them. You should also consider flea-bombing your house and frequent vacuuming (dispose of bags outside) until all flea signs are gone.
If that is not it, taker the poor pup to the vet.

To put it as politely as possible - that's flea excrement. When it is on your dog's fur the dog has fleas, even if you don't see the fleas. You can probably get a good flea treatment from the vet.

I agree with fleas or ticks or both. Get some frontline for the dog, and treat the yard and house too or they will keep coming back.

Fleas, most likely. Get her a flea bath then Frontline Plus from your vet, you put it on her fur every few months and it prevents them, plus it will help kill any around your house.

what kind of dog is it...it might be ticks, fleas are a little small but it might be that too, mites as well so as a suggestion flea/tick dip her and then shave her to make sure you got all of it and to make sure they wont return, then get frontline, works great also get anti mite dust and sprinkle it everywhere the dog has been, or get out of the house and bug bomb it...

Probably fleas or ticks, or both. Bathe her with a good flea/tick soap and invest in some Advantage flea/tick control for dogs.
