no, the cat is fine, but it did act weird for about a week and a half.

Once I heard of a man who was put in jail for burning a cat's whiskers. They said it is painful to the cat because it's the equivalent of human fingers... While your cat will be fine, I really don't think you should try it again.

Cutting a cats whiskers screws up there equilibrium. Whiskers are meant to alert a cat when they get to close to something so they don't run into it. After cutting the whiskers it is pretty funny to watch them walk around like they are drunk, lol. But no, it doesn't really hurt the cat, just when they run into things.

Did the cat go on to live a healthy life? Don't feel bad about it... but it probably did bother the cat (not so much "hurt" as just make the cat feel weird and screwed up.) It is a cruel thing to do, but if you didn't do it with cruel intentions, then don't feel guilty now.

Cats use their whiskers to measure the distance between any space they decide to go into so it's a very important part of their physical being.

So they should never be cut.

I'm sure your cat didn't suffer a great deal from your "haircut". You certainly shouldn't be carrying guilt about doing it long ago.

Their whiskers are as wide as their bodies. That's how they tell if they can go through an opening without getting stuck. He might of been "weird" because he couldn't judge exactly where things were in relation to his size without his whiskers.

it is not painful for them, but they use their whiskers to measure where they fit. The cat could get stuck somewhere.

No, but it's terribly annoying to the cat, and a good habit to get over.

It doesn't hurt, but that's how cats sense things, like movement. cutting it isn't good for him, but it should be fine when it grows back.

it's terrible!!!!! that's their sense of balence and walking, lady! (or man)! you should feel terrible! with out whiskers they can't tell what hole they can fit through, and sometimes they can't even walk!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 9-1-1!!!!! (it's not that serious, not the 911 part, but everything else is that serious)!!

It doesn't hurt specifically but it'll really screw him up until they grow back.
