I'm planning our first family reunion and need ideas. Any info would be great on things to do, not to do, ect. We have never had a "family reunion" with everyone, and I have never planned one myself. Any ideas would be great if you have experiences to share too.

if you want your first family reunion to be a success you have to have things for everyone to do. you want to be able to attract your younger family with different activities designed for them and not just the adults. you should have something planned for everyone to participate in for the entire weekend or so. location is also key. you want to go to a place that has a lot to offer for a reasonable price. my family has been doing our reunions for almost 40 years and every year it's a success. yes you can have fundraisers to raise money for the reunions in years to come but don't just have everyone selling the same thing all the time. it gets boring. you can email me for more advice

if you want to continue having reunions every year you might want to consider an auction to raise money for the following year. start with white elephant they are fun. the sillier the item the more fun to bid. we always use the money to provide the meat for the next year and if there is enough money left we provide the drink too that way no one foots the bill for the higher costing food. but you will need a treasurer to keep track of the money, and secretary to note who will bring the meat the next year. in other words you will always need to have a business meeting discussing the next reunion

Don't have unrealistic expectations. Someone is bound to be unhappy about something, don't let them ruin your day!
