The idea of "The Rapture" rose in prominence in the 18th century. While not specifically mentioned in the canonized books of the bible, many proponents of the theory look to the words of !Thessalonians.
This understanding of these texts is especially the case for 1Thessalonians 4:17 where the context is concern for the fate of those Christians who have already died. The text assures its audience that "the dead in Christ shall rise first" (1Thess. 4:16). "Rising" is not rapture (ascending through the air) but "resurrection" (rising from the dead).

The idea of the secret rapture was made up by John Darby in the year 1830. His ideas were then incorporated in the notes of the Scofield Bible. And that's where Americans got the idea. Now the Americans are teaching this false doctrine throughout the world.

That is a very good question; it gets even better when we consider what Jesus had to say about it.
"Then Jesus told them another story: "The kingdom of heaven is like a man who planted good seed in his field. That night, when everyone was asleep, his enemy came and planted weeds among the wheat and then left. Later, the wheat sprouted and the heads of grain grew, but the weeds also grew. Then the man's servants came to him and said, 'You planted good seed in your field. Where did the weeds come from?' The man answered, 'An enemy planted weeds.' The servants asked, 'Do you want us to pull up the weeds?' The man answered, 'No, because when you pull up the weeds, you might also pull up the wheat. Let the weeds and the wheat grow together until the harvest time. At harvest time I will tell the workers, "First gather the weeds and tie them together to be burned. Then gather the wheat and bring it to my barn..." Then Jesus left the crowd and went into the house. His followers came to him and said, "Explain to us the meaning of the story about the weeds in the field." Jesus answered, "The man who planted the good seed in the field is the Son of Man. The field is the world, and the good seed are all of God's children who belong to the kingdom. The weeds are those people who belong to the Evil One. And the enemy who planted the bad seed is the devil. The harvest time is the end of the world, and the workers who gather are God's angels. "Just as the weeds are pulled up and burned in the fire, so it will be at the end of the world. The Son of Man will send out his angels, and they will gather out of his kingdom all who cause sin and all who do evil. The angels will throw them into the blazing furnace, where the people will cry and grind their teeth with pain. Then the good people will shine like the sun in the kingdom of their Father. You people who can hear me, listen." (Matthew 13:24 - 43 NCV)
According to Jesus, the people of God and the people of the devil will not be seperated untill the end of the world!

From various different parts of the bible. Sometimes it is one sentence in a whole book of the bible. But as I recall, I need to search the scriptures and find where it clearly talks about the return of Christ. and Men will live on earth with Christ as the ruler of the whole world for a 1000 years, then the devil will be let loose one last time in the end of the 1000 year reign of Christ. Then their will be another great Battle against God and Satan, then Satan will be defeated and cast out into outer darkness never to return to the hearts of man.

Nothing secret about it.
"16: For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up (raptured) together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
