Usually it's because they conveniently ignore the fact that God's original purpose for this earth, namely to have it filled with perfect humans enjoying life in paradise surroundings, is going to be fulfilled. Most people are deluded by the false teachings of their preachers that they have to just accept Christ and their reward will be going to heaven to be with him. The Bible teaches no such thing, but rather that a small group of humans would be given life in the heavens, while the vast majority of faithful ones will have a hand in transforming this planet into a paradise, in which they can live forever in perfect health.

It's because they are self-centered and insecure. They have a need to feel as though they are saved. Have you ever noticed how people from one church will dismiss the claims of people in another church -- including one evangelical group towards another salvation group?
They want to feel special in the eyes of God, so they think that if they give a good line, then they hope that people will be impressed.

Lets set the record straight!
I am one of Jehovah's Witnesses, and I am not going to heaven.
I plan to live for God right here on the earth as he purposed it in the beginning.
By the way, all those bound for heaven will end up here as well. If you read your bible, you would know this........Opinion doesn't count.

I've noticed that.
I've also noticed how everyone is absolutely convinced -they- understand the rules for getting there. But ask them why God had to drown all the animals to wipe out wicked humanity, and they'll tell you "We puny humans can never understand God".
It's a self-reinforcing self-delusion that generates arrogance, confidence, and security.

Ummm...isn't that what Christians do, since they believe they are "saved" and someone else isn't if they haven't been "born again"? I believe everyone has the chance and right to be there, but they must first make the correct steps and covenants, then live worthily of those covenants, including myself.

Johnny - very good question - because in the Bible I read - the one God gave us - it does not say that at all - it says Jesus died so that ALL(not some) have the chance of salvation.
Again - good question - Thanks for asking it!
