It really depends on what is causing the lisp. If it's physical then that is immediately correctable through surgery.
The easiest way is the same way to treat a stutter. Just slow your speech pattern down a little and say your words deliberately.
Think about the words and visualize what you want to say before actually saying it. Over time as you become more comfortable speaking you can speed it up a little bit.

All of the above answers about speech therapy make sense, but I hope that you've been evaluated for being "tongue tied," which can cause some lisps. If you are tongue tied (a strong muscle attachment under your tongue), you will not be able to stick your tongue out of your mouth and up towards your nose. There is an extremely easy and minor surgical procedure to correct this and - if it's the source of your problem - your lisp will go away almost overnight.
Otherwise, let me repeat my agreement with all of the answers about speech therapy and lip/tongue exercises.

find a speech therapist he/she should be able to help you with this. The other thing you can do is say "S" often so but use the s sound rather then ess sound then go on and say words like snake so you would be talking like this s s s snake keep repeating this but you will also have to do this out loud maybe in your room don't have any music going as you will need to hear this sound Good luck.

Ask your doctor to help you get in touch with a speach therapist. It's never too late. Do you have any issues with your teeth that may be causing this?

I had a lisp as a kid, I believe that its due to a very large, wide, short tong that I have. As to answering your question.
I took speech therapy as a kid in 4th or 5th grade, and it helped me.

I'm a special ed. major and in the semester we had speech pathology, one doctor recommendation was to put marbles in your mouth. Practice pronouncing sounds but please be careful of swallowing. This actually worked.
