Put Vick's Vapor rub under your nose. It'll keep you awake - I used it all through law school.

From my experience, one of the few things that can keep you awake, besides coffee and chocolate, is adrenaline. Try to watch a bit of a horror movie or get sb to scare you :) or just become engrossed in the interesting passages in the book..this will surely chase sleep away. Good luck

obviously reading is not very stimulating to you, if you really need to read find a more uncomfortable chair to sit in (dont read in bed or on a cozy sofa) and take a few breaks, get up walk around, think about what you have read.
Another good thing to do is to chew gum, for some reason it helps.
And make sure your lighting is adequate so you do not get drowsy

well have a good rest before you do your reading, you'll feel much better after you feel refreshed + if you still feels sleepy try to have some distraction like have a side snacks beside you or turn on a fine tune to keep you alert.

You should focus only on what your reading and stop thinking about how boring the book is.
