you could call local DME companies and see if they have a donation closet. Sometimes once a person dies, the family will return the DME to the company they got it from. Since it is used and already paid for, the company can't re-sell it.

Yahoo has a great thing called free cycle you can ask or give thing away search for your county free cycle. Good luck usually hospital gives one insurance should pay.

he can get one from social security if he is getting a disability check that's were my dad got his and it was powered but he had to get the Doctor to give him a script for it then they tried to give him a regular one but he told them the doc said powered and so that's what they gave him

You need to talk with his doctor about getting him one. You've seen those ads on tv? He needs to check with his doc. My dad did this and got one immediately.
