I work in retail and am a college student. No kids. Anyway, it seems like a lot of times, no matter what the situation, when I tell a woman something, her response is "I have kids." I could tell her that her order will be ready in an hour and she'll tell me she has kids. I could ask her when she'll be back to pick up the order... "Well I have kids." Why do moms tell me this? I don't care! It has NOTHING to do with anything. Am I supposed to clap? I'm not asking if you have kids or anything about the kids. I'm telling you something or asking you something completely unrelated. Why do they keep telling me they have kids?

Well I can say this much about my dealings with people saying that..that I know. This is sad but it is true, this is not always the case but I do know some people that really do this.

The people that I know that do this is they think they can get more done by saying "I have kids". I hear this a lot and what makes it really sad is the ones that don't even have kids will say this to get something done faster!

The electric gets turned off, they call and let them know I have kids here I have to get it turned back on now!! No kids are there!!

Yes, funnyface has a point. It's because kids basically destroy your life. It's because we with kids hesitate to commit to anything that is about ourselves because we no longer have a sense of self, we have kids instead. When you are trying to keep other people alive by doing everything they need done, like feeding them, listening to them breathe when they're sick, teaching them how to make friends so they don't get beaten up, figuring out what dose of what medicine they need next, everything else kind of has to take a back seat. I'm sure college and work are challenging, but try keeping someone totally helpless alive, like a baby or a young kid. When you have kids, everything is about kids. Gotta run . . . got kids.

oh my dear, when you do have kids, believe me everything has to be done around them. When they are little, they have special needs, when they are older, you'd rather kill yourself to start with rather than stand in a store with them. And as they get old, you need to run out to the car as soon as you can to make sure they haven't run off with it. IT'S JUST A WHOLE DIFFERENT WORLD YOU LIVE IN WHEN THERE ARE KIDS INVOLVED. CAN'T YOU REMEMBER WHEN YOU WERE YOUNG, DIDN'T YOU GIVE YOU MOM A HARD TIME SOMETIMES, WHERE SHE JUST WANTED TO GET IN THE STORE, PRAY THAT SHE COULD HURRY AND GET OUT BEFORE HER CHILD CAUSED MAJOR DESTRUCTION TO THE STORE OR HOME IF SHE LEFT THEM. Some day you will understand, I promise, then the employees at the store will be asking the same thing about you. Sorry have to run, I HAVE KIDS!!!!

Wierd. Women are like that - can't tell straight to the point. It could mean a lot of things, when they tell you that.

1) I have kids - Pls hurry up (because my kids are waiting for me/I need to pick up my kids,/I have kids to attend to)

2) I have kids - I can't give you a time (because my time belongs to my kids schedule)

That's women.

Yipes...sounds like your mom is really busy and has lost herself in it.

Talk to her alone if possible and tell her what she's doing. She may not even realize it. It could be an easy fix.

Good luck and keep up the good work on your end.

believe me when you have them you will understand. Life revolves around them. And yes sometimes it is true you get more leway when you have kids. Because anyone who has them or understands about them knows that everything, even when you don't want it to depends on if they are happy. That old saying "if mama ain't happy nobodies happy" it's not true. "If the kids ain't happy, mama ain't happy, therefore nobodies happy"

Probably as an excuse for why they are either: late or can't do something or disorganized, etc!

I don't say this to people but this is why I would guess someone would??
