See a psychologist or a counselor. They might be able to help you get over this phobia. I know that I used to freak out when I saw cicadas (hate those nasty bugs). I had to kill my fear of them or my daughters (and my youngest sister) would have been terrified of them at an age where they shouldn't be afraid of them. Besides, I told my husband (jokingly) that the only reason I keep him around is to kill the bugs.

I was once afraid of heights. I overcame that fear by facing it in a special way.

One day, I had to climb up a ladder on a three story building. As I was climbing the ladder, I was overwhelmed with fear- frozen actually. I decided to hold on to the ladder and wait. I waited there for about five minutes. I realized then that the ladder was holding me up just fine and I could climb it to the top. I've never feared heights again.

Insects and other creepies don't want to hurt you, they just want to be left alone.

Here's the drill.

Have someone put a bug in a jar (something you are really afraid of -- a big nasty spider or something else). You know that if the creature is in the jar, it can't get out.

Put the jar on a table and force yourself to sit right next to it. You may be afraid at first, just wait there until the fear goes away. If you are like me, the fear will eventually leave and at some level, you will never be afraid of bugs again. The wierd thing is, you will stop fearing lots of things, not just bugs.

You likely picked up the fear because when you were a child some adult freaked out when seeing a bug. This would only make sense if all bugs were deadly (they are not).

I have been bitten and stung by some very poisonous insects and spiders and I survived with little more than minor discomfort.

Work through this logically and emotionally.

I have the same exact problem. i am terrified of bugs and I know they are bigger than me too and it still doesn't help me. I cry when I see a bug because I am terrified of them, even ants and butter flys. I am sorry I can not answer you question because I need help with this too. I hope we can both over come this problem. Good Luck

People are scared about things when they dont know what they are.

The only way to beat a fear is to face it head on. Find out what it is about the bugs that makes you scared. If you know that, then you can work out a solution. In case you are not scared about one aspect of the bug, but the entire bug itself, try looking at pictures of bugs or repeatedly call out the names of the bugs you are scared of. This makes a connection in your brain, connecting the picture and the sound. Now that your brain knows what it is, you will no longer be afraid of it.

You can also research about bugs. If you get to know facts about them, maybe you wont be as scared. but ultimately, the bug is so small compared to you. most of them dont harm and 99% are not poisonous. consider that.

First of all spiders aren't bugs they are arachnids. Ask yourself is why are you are afraid of them. Best way for you is to do some research and educate yourself about these creatures. Learn about them. You be surprised that not all of them are really that bad. Alot of them are beneficial to us. Many insects and spiders are harmless to humans. Also you can go to a local zoo or nature center and ask some questions about them. Education is your best bet and if that still doesn't work ask for some counseling that knows alot about insects and spiders and how to deal with people that have a fear of them.

Understand that you are not their target or the center of their attention or instincts. You need to go to a pet store or a hobby store and confront your fear. My daughter has that, too, but I grab her and make her relax and breathe slowly, then I ask her to look at the bug. If I kill it for her, I ask her to please hold the papertowel containing the bug and realize how it is powerless and she is powerfull. This has helped... until a bee gets near her window in the car, then its back to square one. Understanding irrational fears is hard for us who don't have them, but understanding your own personal power is key to overcoming anything.

i know what you must do...
first you must make an offering to the bug god go-hecko-anul
then you must travel to the deep jungle
where an old man will ask you the time you will say 4:00
he hands you a sandwich....you eat it
then you dance to Ashly Simpson's worst album
for three days
then you should never be afraid of bugs again

Spray yourself with repellent, it may help keep most bugs away or at least off of you.
