I have chosen the biblical answer if you believe in the Bible. Here's what the site says that I've copied and pasted for you. There are tons of other opinions of which came first, but since we are free in America to choose the version we believe, I've opted for the biblical:
According to the Creator of chickens, and the author of the Record of their origins, chickens came first. It was on the Fifth Day of Creation Week that He created "every winged fowl after [their] kind" (Genesis 1:21) complete with the DNA to reproduce that kind. Then He "blessed them, saying, Be fruitful, and multiply" (v.22) using that DNA. For the chickens this meant lay chicken eggs. Problem solved.

Which came first - the chicken or the egg? "The chicken" came first - in the sentence of the question. If the question is phrased differently, the answer is different.

As a creationist, I know that the chicken came first. The bible tells us that God created "the birds" not eggs.
However, evolutions tell us that before there was a chicken, there was a species that was not qquite a chicken. One of this species laid an egg. When the "baby" was born everyone told her "I don't know who it looks like. Not you and not your husband!" No wonder, it was a new species occuring due to some mutation! So the egg came first. Big joke?

The pro-to-chicken came first. The mold always comes before the model. The egg came from this pro-to-chicken . After this, the egg grew to either, the first modern-day Rooster or Chicken. The offspring of this first modern day Koo-Koo was mixed with the New Chicken genes and Old chicken genes. After wards, the newer generations "co-mingled". From this co-mingling, The Pure Race of modern day chickens arose!. Similarly, modern day humans arose from Neanderthal and hominid mingling, it has been hypothesized! Viva la France

a chicken is an egg's way of making more eggs.
an unfertilized egg in a chicken like bird was fertilized creating a new species ie the chicken. so altough the egg was first it was not a chicken egg. it took a chicken to lay the first chicken egg.

The egg came first, because an egg can be genetically different from its parents but a chicken cannot be genetically different from when it was in the egg.

i think KFC came first.
They had no chickens to sell.
They contacted a bio-engineering company.
The company crossed quite a few sperms of various birds and the ovum of many other birds and made a cocktail out of it.
They encased it in a hard shell and went drinking
The hard shell then cracked open and a chick came out.
The chick was crossed with another cocktail bird and more eggs were laid and more chicks came out.
KFC had chicken to sell.

this question is inappropraite, because chicken nor egg just suddenly appeared on this planet, so there must be a former species that evolved into the species now we know as chickens
