She took a home pregnancy test and a test at the doctors office..both confirming she is indeed pregnant (I am thinking a few weeks or so). Anyhow she had an appt today. The doctor did some sort of vaginal ultra sound...he told her he seen the sac but didn't see a "baby" (fetus)? Why is this and what would cause this?? Or did he possibly overlook something? Also when does the women develop the sac? Thanks for all sincere answers!

Hi, This all sounds too familiar!

I have been pregnant twice, so i know exactly what the doctor means.

Two months ago i found out i was pregnant with my second child, somewhere between 4 to 6 weeks. I started having these pains (light stabbing pains) in my stomach, so i decided to go to the doctor and he admitted me into hospital, when i got there they did an internal ultra-sound scan and saw my womb but no sign of a baby!

After several attempts and blood tests they confirmed that the baby was growing outside of the womb in my fallopian tube!

They told me that my baby did not have a heart beat and that the options are to do an incision on my stomach and cut the section of my fallopian tube out.

I was like HELL NO!!!
I want kids in the future (I'm only 25yrs) they're not cutting nothing out of me, so they put me on methotrexate (which is a chemo therapy that kills any new growing cells in your body), don't worry you won't loose any hair!
It's just an injection and i was off work for 2 and a half weeks!
so wasn't bad at all!

but my advise to your cousin is if it turns out to be a ectopic pregnancy, get it checked by the hospital straight away, if left to long it can burst and cause internal bleeding and is a lot harder to fix then when it is still really small.

Good Luck! I will keep my fingers crossed for you!

well i have had four kids and the only time there is a sac is when there is a baby. if she is not having cramps or bleeding than the doc might have overlooked the baby. also she is not that far along and it is hard to detect the baby at less than a month long. i would not stress until the test come back. the ultrasounds can miss things this early in a pregnancy. so hold back and wait for the test results. good luck!

Wait till the blood scan comes again. The blood scan must be correct at this factor. There are different causes for lacking your interval, like strain, or up to date principal weight reap or weight reduction, and different causes, too, a few critical and a few now not. Your physician does not look to had been very tactful, or very well at explaining. If you do not get your interval quickly, then write down any questions you could have and some thing you do not comprehend, and take it with you whilst you return. That approach you will not omit some thing. Good success!

it could mean that her body "thinks" she's pregnant and prepared her body for the pregnancy and even developed a sac, but it could be the baby never made it past the first stages of life and died, but the sac still remains cause her body thinks she's pregnant.

it could be that the baby is just not far enought along to be seen...when the baby is 4 weeks its only the size of a seseme seed or she could have experienced a very early miscariage and still has the hormones in her system
