I am looking to lose about 20lbs. I have begun to exercise at leat 3 times a week (some days more vigorous than others but for at least 30 minutes) and I have cut calories to about 1400-1500 a day(but I still eat junk food).

This may not be the fastest way or best way but I would like assurance that I will lose weight this way

thanks

Don't eat at night. Do stretching and light exercise for 15 minutes every morning. Watch the carbs and fat and protein intake.
You'll do great.

You might not want to eat junk food. Eat healthy stuff. And don't worry not all healthy stuff is gross you know! you can have fruit for desert. That is because it is healthy and tastes sweet. Maybe exercise 45 minutes a day. Also get outside a lot, too. But here are 3 simple steps to follow when you are eating:

1) Use blue stuff. Eat with blue plates, napkins, silverware or anything else you can find. There is now real blue food on planet Earth. There is still an instinct from the caveman days not to eat blue stuff. So sycologically you will feel you need to eat less.

2) Listen to slow music. Slow music will put you in a calm mood. This will make you eat slower.

3) Eat slowly. When you eat slowly, you realize when you are full. This helps a bunch, because sometimes it take you a while to realize that you're full. And when you are full you eat less.

Final Note-
It will probly be hard to come over the obstacles. Although you have to try with all your power. Set up goals for yourself to help persuade you to make good decisions. I hope I helped you! :-D

You are off to a good start but the junk food is like eating lard or just slapping it on your parts you are trying to reduce it is called junk for a reason. Try junk food once a week small 3 ounce portion may hit the craving but you should stop

Junk food isn't good for losing weight, really. It doesn't help you stay healthy. You may lose weight, but you won't be healthy. Try high-fiber foods, like all bran cereal, fruits, vegetables, etc. Add in some lean protein too. And I'm happy to see that your calorie intake is not ridiculously low or too high for weight loss.
Take care, and good luck. :)
If this fails, pump up the exercise.
