I would like to know what a cat means, in relationship. I have been in a relationship for about a week now and my gf says that her cat needs a good home. to make everything clear, she has asked (and i accepted) that she bring her friend to out next date. Her friend has a baby, my theory on this is that she wants to know how good of a father i would be, or to see if i really want to have kids, and care for them. Now back to the question about the cat, she says that she can't have a dog and a cat in the same appartment, for obvious reasons. I have a couple of theories to why she would ask me if i would like a cat.
1. she could see if i would love another person, the cat being a replacement for a person.
2. Or...ok i lied i only have one theory.
If you might know what a cat represents, please help me.

Sure....a cat represents....NOTHING.
Women simply don't have the internal life that you think they do. Oh sure, they might fantasize along these lines from time to time but they have nothing like the cogent set of thought and behaviors that move them toward goals (like marriage, family, successful career etc.) Women are for sex and not much else. And their behavior reflects this.
Put another way, you should consider anything that comes out of your girlfriends mouth to be one of three things.....a lie, bulls hit, or some temporary random nonsense with nothing more than entertainment value (sortof like if you turned on the TV).
Stop looking for hidden meanings in what she says or does. They could be there. However, 15 minutes later, she will have forgotten all about it. That is the nature of women.
This is both a good an bad thing. It's good in that you can make a woman feel or do almost anything you want, with little effort. It's bad because everything about them is ephemeral and prone to disappear suddenly and without warning. Don't be surprised if she says you are her soul mate and she wants to have ten kids with you and stay with you for ever and ever. And the very next day, disappears forever from your life without explanation.
This is what women do. It's who they are. You have no choice but to accept it. So, simply shrug and do whatever it is you want to do with whomever you want to do and pat them on the head (then ignore them) when they start talking about permanent things. They can't hold up their end of the bargain. Knowing that, it won't matter. You'll just grab another one the very next day.
