Why do people blame Islam for the actions of a few bad muslims?

People here are saying that Islam or Muslim countries do nothing to stop terrorism, nor did any of them denounce the actions if 911. Totally not true.

If you go to any Islamic website, there will be a section in plain view about "Islam and Terrorism." They explain that the two are not one in the same. In Egypt, President Hosni Mubarak has come down VERY HARD on the Muslim Brotherhood, Egypt Islamic Jijad, Al-Gama'a al-Islamiyya, etc, and anyone who's even suspected of being connected to such groups, to the extent that thousands of innocent suspect have been or are still now jailed. That was the success ticket in 1981 that got him elected. The Mubarak administration DOES NOT TOLERATE extremist groups. There are very strict laws about that.

Ask any Muslim anywhere whether or not s/he condemns the September 11 attacks. Ask them, see what they say. Muslims around the world condemned the attacks. There were statements from Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, and other Muslim countries that sympathized with the U.S. and wanted to say to them that in no way did they condone what happened, and that their hearts went out to the families and to the country. Ask, and look it up.

People blame because they wanna blame, it gives them a thrill. People love a scapegoat. People love to feel "holier than thou." People don't take the time to realize that hey, there are appx 1.5 BILLION Muslims world wide, but only a few thousand Muslim terrorists. A drop in the bucket. This matters not to those who are too lazy to think and read.

Let's stop blaming, and start THINKING RATIONALLY. It will be a refreshing change, especially here in Answers!

Sadly, the media likes showing a small percentage of idiots of any group to represent a whole group. Right now, many American Media Groups like CNN and MSNBC go to idiots which barely make a percent of the country, religion, or race and try to get their opinions rather what the actual people do. Its like Al Jazeera going to America and interviewing skinheads, KKKs, or Nazis. Another thing is that the reason the war is going on is for oil and gas. Majority of oil and gas reservations are owned by Arabs and Muslims. I am taking no ones sides as I am an American Muslim. Finally, these Arabs and Muslims don't have a brain or a capacity of knowledge to use that oil to benefit themselves and the world. I could say America is doing a good job and a bad job.

Name any other religion throughout the world that is presently engaged in killing sprees such as this. Perhaps this is why people blame Islam because the terrorists just happen to be Muslims who teach and practice the "religion" of Islam.

Because the bad Muslims are Islam practitioners. Look at all the bad things they say about Marines when a few bad ones do something wrong. It's life, if you really care about the group you were affiliated with, you would do no wrong that would shed bad light on your group. Islam gets a bad rap because they can not control the people in there ranks, they do nothing to punish these bad guys, at least you get put in jail when you do something wrong in the Military.

The difference is that the religion is very explicit in demanding the behaviors the terrorists are engaged in. The rest of muslims actively support them and they are heros to them. This is near 100% of all muslims and is why there are no protests against terrorism or complaints that they are ruining the reputation of the religion. Most of the world is well aware of this. We are also well aware that people like you make posts like this as part of the campaign of propaganda and deception that supports Jihad.

People blame Islam because Radical Islamic leaders justify terrible things by using the Quran, and Islamic countries world wide still commit these (stoning women etc) in the name of Allah.

Not all Muslims are bad, but have you read the Quran?

The majority of Muslims are radical, they hate Jews and most of them live in the Middle East, but they obey the Quran when they commit Terrorist acts....

Very few peaceful Muslims condemn their brothers terrorist actions.....

it is typical of human nature to transpose the actions of a few as a stereotype for the larger group. Not all in the group share the same ideas and ideology, but it's far easier to simply say this is true rather then deal with the fact that only a extreme handful are engaged in such action.
