This is typical of Norton, Build a product that does not work well and then charge for support. Stick to the free products, at least then you will not be ripped off.

I've never heard of anything like that. The whole suite is only $70 and the AV alone about $40. Protecting and removing the virus is what the programs do. How long ago did you buy Norton... you do know that there is an annual renewal for any AV program?

I never heard of having to pay for it, after you pay for it. That does not sound right at all. I had both McAffee and Norton now I use my avg I love it and it is easier to use. I am using their free version which is very good the pay even better. Hope that helps ~A~
Ps I get nothing for sharing, I just like this program O_-

Because Nortons blows goats, though I hear tell the goats enjoy it.
I paid for Nortons on a new HP I bought back in january, in six weeks I started getting "licensing errors" that they couldn't resolve. I deleted the crap and got this avast program.. it works fine and hasnt cost me a dime, probably saved me money considering nortons wants your money.

Because the $80.00 goes towards researching a new virus to send you. It`s called the circle of death in the antivirus world.

Norton is like bying brand name shoes. You should go to Walmart and get a pair. That being said...

Get System Mechanic 6...more bang for buck...for less bucks!

Two prones to this question. First, they want you to pay them more (I believe someone said they are corporate pigs -- I concur!) and for that $80 what do you get?!?! A FREAKING website (that's available for anyone to find) that's NOT EVEN THEIR OWN!

Second, why don't they install Norton and other firewall protections INTO THE COMPUTER when you buy it?!?! DUH! Why do we have to pay -- yet again -- for this when EVERYONE knows we're vulnerable to attack without anything (again, someone already has stated the obvious -- corporate pigs!)

BASICALLY BECAUSE THEY CAN? SOME PEOPLE WILL PAY RATHER THAN SORT IT OUT THEMSELVES? IT COMES DOWN TO TIME AND MONEY . ALSO WHERE DO YOU THINK THE VIRUSES COME FROM?

YES THERE ARE SOME VERY MALICIOUS PEOPLE OUT THERE SPAWNING THESE VIRUSES? AS THERE ARE ALSO PEOPLE UNDER THE GUISE THEY ARE TESTING THESE ANTI VIRUS'S FOR THE TRADE? NO VIRUSES NO BUSINESS NO BIG PROFITS (MY OPINION) .

To answer your question or help you save $80.00 try this site http://www.bitdefender.com/site/Download/browseFreeRemovalTool/ and don't just use one virus protection? It also helps to use as I'm sure your aware anti spy ware and ad ware ,malware etc

They will ask for money even if they don't remove it. They are the real viruses in the computer world. Who do you think creates viruses so they can profit from anti-virus software?
