At 12 months we used the bottle only for the night feeding. We will take it away completely when she's 18 months old.

Introduce a cup to your child around 12 months so they only have a bottle at night and then by 18 months they shouldn't have a bottle at all. Good luck there may be some tears but be strong. Bottles ruin their teeth if they have them to long so tears are cheaper then a dentist.

both of my boys were off the bottle before they turned a year old by choice not by me stopping them completely i have a 6yr old and a 20 month old i really think it depends on the baby not saying that they should suck on the bottle until they are three yrs old i just think it varies. try telling him that big boys don't drink bottles or stop it during the day and give him water bottles at night

The X-mas before his 4th birthday (only at bedtime) I told him Santa Clause took his bottle, and it worked out fine. He never asked for his bottle again. I kept him on the bottle at bedtime for so long because he wasn't a big eater and I thought that his bottle would keep him comfortable for the night.

our son started taking solid baby food and cereal a month ago, at seven months. still takes a bottle at night, but he really doesnt want a bottle during the day now. prefers the babyfood. I think he'll probably decide for us when he doesnt want bottles at night...and that will be that.
