Muslims honor and respect Jesus, son of Mary (peace be upon him and all of God's prophets). Muslims believe that he was one in a long line of honorable prophets, who taught his people to worship and obey the One True Lord, the Creator. The Qur'an describes him:

He [Jesus] was no more than a servant. We granted Our favor to him,and we made him an example to the Children of Israel....

When Jesus came with clear signs, he said,"Now have I come to you with Wisdom, and in order to make clear to yousome of the points on which you dispute. Therefore, fear Allah and obey me.

For Allah, He is my Lord and your Lord,so worship Him.This is a Straight Way."

(Qur'an: Al-Zukhruf 43:59, 63-64)

Of all the prophets, Jesus is probably the most written about in the Qur'an. Various stories in the Islamic text talk about his miraculous birth, his ministry, his disciples, and the message that he brought to his people. Muslims always speak of Jesus with respect, and "Issa" (the Arabic rendition of his name) is a common given name in the Muslim world.

The Qur'an makes it very clear that Jesus was a prophet, chosen by God to teach his people, but not associated with nor part of God Himself. He performed miracles, by the grace and power of God alone. He of himself could do nothing -- all of his glory pointed back to the One Almighty God.

Muslims therefore reject the notion of the Trinity that is common in most Christian denominations today. Islam adheres to a very strict monotheism, and considers such a theology to be idolatrous.

Additionally, Islam teaches that God is Merciful and forgives all sins, without the need for a Saviour or blood sacrifice of any kind. Therefore, Muslims reject the idea that all of mankind is "saved" by any one creed or sacrifice. In Islam, each person is judged mercifully by God, Who created us and knows our hearts and weaknesses. While Muslims do not feel that their fate in the Hereafter is "guaranteed" (as many Christians would say), they do not despair -- for the Mercy of Allah is without measure.

In the end, Muslims believe that the message Jesus preached was one and the same as the message that all of the prophets brought to their people: Worship Almighty God, and Him Alone. Have faith, and live your life according to that faith.

Jesus stoped Mary from getting stoned for adultery by saying "let ye without sin cast the first stone"

I recently read a story about a young woman who was seeing a man out of wedlock (adultery) tried in an islamic court and sentenced to death. Where is the peace love and mercy of this religion?

plus Muslim was not even a religon until 500 - 600 AD. this is long after Jesus walked this earth.

Islam came after Jesus left the Earth. Islam came in the 600s and Jesus ascended into heaven in the year 33 or so.

He was Jew and lived his entire life as a Jew. Those who followed him were considered Christians, but not until much later. The followers of Jesus were part of a sect of Judaism.

Geeze, what an idiot... Islam didn't even start until nearly 700AD. You are correct in that Jesus didn't preach Christianity. He was a Jew. Christians are the followers of his teachings.

Although moslems claim to believe that Jesus was a Prophet, they obviously do not believe what he said. His words were"I am the way,the Truth and the Life,NO man cometh unto the Father but by ME.You cannot even get to the Almighty without going through Jesus. Why would people believe part of his words and not all of them? They are confused, but every knee will soon bow and EVERYONE will know who Jesus is.I assure you.

No He did not, He DID preach Christianity which is following Him! "Take up your cross and follow me" He said.. He said nothing ever about killing or hating Jews, in fact His desciples and first believers were Jews. He never mentioned Muhammad except that there will be false prophets after Him... The Qu'ran doesn't tell you the Truth about Jesus... just what Muhammad thought should be true.

Jesus preached love, understanding, and peace. I think you can say Islam embraces those ideals too. He also preached aspects of Buddaism, Hinduism, followed Judaic traditions, and I bet if he was alive today would probably dig rock-n-roll music.

Did Mohammed preach Christianity?

2006-08-08 19:57:45 · answer #8 · answered by Anonymous · 0 0

He couldn't because Islam doesn't believe that Jesus is the Savior of the world. He didn't preach "religion" anyway (www.notreligion.com).
Peace

Jesus preached an overhaul of Judiasim, Christianity was created after his death and was based on his teachings. (Much in the same way Mohummad preached a new Chrisitainity/Judiaism)
