How do you explain Lucifer, who defied God's will?

It's clear some people don't understand free will... Free will is having the power to choose your own deeds.

In a sense they must. The devil, who was the main angel in heaven, chose to try to usurp God's place. That bad angel made a choice. But the effects have been reverbrating down the millenia, disturbing spiritual equilibrium, ever since.

The Bible also speaks of the Nephilim, who also upset the order of things when they came down to earth and married earthly women, resulting in the semi-mythical heroes of old. So they too made a choice. Interesting that God chose to flood the earth and cleanse mankind's bloodline after that.

Suffice it to say that when angels excercise their freedom of choice it usually has deep and negative results. That's why I am glad that most of them choose to serve Almighty God.

If angels do have free will, they choose to serve God.At least the original 2/3'ds of heaven's angels do.

Yes angels absolultely have free will. Any other answer is rediculous to the extreeme and shows a level of understanding that is infantile in nature. 1) God would never force/demand love, it must be giving freely .... and 2) If they didn't have free will you wouldn't have ole Lucifer to be concerned about. And that's answered by a Pagan so go figure!.

Do the angels have a free will? Yes, they do.
When originally created by God, all the angels had a free will. Indeed, their eternal destiny depended on how they would use their freedom. Mysteriously the angels could choose between the real good and the apparent good. They could choose between submitting and refusing obedience to their Creator.

We know what happened. Some angels refused to bend their wills to the Divine will, and they were eternally condemned for their pride. Others freely surrendered their wills to the Almighty.

What kind of freedom do they possess?” It cannot be the freedom of choosing between good and evil, which means between doing the will of God and committing sin. The angels are in heavenly glory. They have the peak of freedom, because they always choose to love God.

So true is this that the angels spontaneously love God more than themselves.
The fallen angels are slaves of their selfish wills.

In a quote from Saint Ignatius’ Spiritual Exercises. Says Ignatius:

"We should apply the memory to the sin of the angels, that is, recalling that they were created in the state of grace, that they did not want to make use of the freedom God gave them to reverence and obey their Creator and Lord. Falling into pride, they were changed from grace to hatred of God, and cast out of heaven into hell."

Who tempted Adam and Eve? --a fallen angel Lucifer

Who temped Christ in the desert? -- a fallen angel Lucifer

Who tempts us in our everyday lives?--Lucifern and his legion of angels(demons)

Who helps us and protects us from evil? our guardian Angel.

Biblically yes. Lucifer chose to disobey God and fell along with a third of the other angels. Now Lucifer is no longer son of the morning, he is the advesary or Satan.

No, they do not read Ezekiel 28:12-17. The bible tells us that mankind was the only one that was made in the image and likeness of God (Genesis 3) and given that right. Since you have questions about angels, I would recommend a book Angels to Help You by Lester Sumrall. It's easy reading, only 128 pages., and it goes into details about angels giving you biblical references.

St Augustine recommended that Angels had loose will however that being best creatures they determined in an immediate whether they could serve God. In that experience an Angel is not going to difference. Those that serve God, selected to however will regularly just do His will. Those that selected to not serve God will by no means difference their brain.

Angel's are Invisible Spiritual Servant's. They have a Limited Free-Will, but they do not have the Authority to Chose the Word's they Speak. They Speak what they are told to Speak.
Satan chose his word's and got kicked out of Heaven.

Yes, they do. God gave free will to every being. Have you ever seen the movie "City of Angels"? Nicolas Cage was an angel and he fell in love with Meg Ryan. In the end, he used his free will to become a human...such a beautiful, yet sad, movie.

Not as much free will as Faeries or Leprechauns but more than the Jolly Green Giant.
