What is important to you?
I liked American Express because they protect you when you travel.
I like Visa/Master Card because I can get into various programs (rewards, 0% interest for a year, cash back, no annual fee). You just have to look for the program you want and that is right for you.
I never had Discover.

Depends on what you are looking for. VISA and MC are about equal and accepted anywhere. Look for a bank that is offering something you can use, low interest, points for cash (rebates), free airline tickets, hotel rooms etc. All offer rebates, but all are not equal there. Exxon/Mobil MC pays 3% rebate on gas automatically each month, Sunoco MC 4%. Chase Bank offers 4% rebates, but you can only collect at 5000 point increments and they don't always give correct credit on points. DISCOVER Card is trying hard to stay afloat, so you can get 5% on gas and "special" items, but you have to call in to claim the rebate in 2000 point increments. AE gives rebates, but unless you spend over $20,000/year, it's hardly worth it. United and American Airlines have VISA or MC cards that give free tickets (every year if you ask for them). CHOICE hotels (Quality Inn, Comfort Inn etc) offers rebates and free rooms with their VISA card. Best card right now: WAWA VISA card! 10% rebates on all WAWA purchases (gas included) for the first 90 days, 4% after that. 2% on any other purchase (90 days) then 1%.

American Express - they offer about 30 credit cards for personal or business. AMEX was the first company that start reward point program. Now every credit card it issues carry some sort of reward program - whether it's cash back or reward points, you can certainly find one that fits your needs. http://www.iapplyforcreditcards.com/american-express-credit-card.php
