I'm not a Mormon, but I've known some Mormon people and I've always found it ridiculous and very "un-Christian" that so many people have hated them for over 150 years. Who did they ever hurt?

I did a thesis paper on early American religious movements and most people have forgotten or don't know that they government of Missouri actually put out an extermination order on the Mormons to have them killed. That is why they ended up in Utah. Who the hell cares if they have bizarre rituals and beliefs. Most religions do! I just think it's interesting that the Mormons' most vocal and vicious opponents are Protestant Christians.

As a socially liberal young woman, I don't agree with the Mormon Church's position on abortion, homosexuality, etc. But that doesn't mean that I hate them..So isn't it a little hypocritical when other Christian churches mock and ridicule the Mormons, when those same Christian churches become so offended and defensive when they're persecuted by atheists, etc?

I'm Baptist, and while I do not agree with some of their teachings, I do not "hate" them in any way.

Not long ago, there were a couple mormon guys (the ones who ride bikes, and go door to door) who would stop by once or twice a week, to "talk". I believe that the main reason I was so eager to let them come in and talk, was because I had never really known or understood the difference between their faith and my own. And well, it was very interesting to finally be able to understand what the differences are, between our two specific faiths. I found that to be very educational, and the two gentlemen who would come by, came off to me as two very intelligent, genuinely polite people.

I enjoyed talking with them, not out of interest in going to their church or anything like that, but it was nice to know something about it, instead of just making my own assumptions about what they must believe in, since they are (as I had always heard) very different. They invited us to their church, but we made sure to let them know that we already had a church home, one that we were perfectly content in.. and we always made sure to thank them for the invitation though.

Personally, from my own viewpoints and my own faith.. I saw some of their beliefs (the ones they told us about anyways..) to be pretty sad, actually. They seemed to have a sorta-similar basis of belief, as my own.. but most of it was very different from there.

I was always polite to them, and let them come in and say the things they felt the need to say, out of respect. I know many people who would just slam the door in their face, rather than talk to them. I think that's a bit unfair, as they are only out there doing what they believe in.. and there's nothing wrong with that part of it. It's just certain aspects of their teachings that I didn't agree with, and therefore would not attend their church, or anything like that. But, I kept my thoughts to myself, and let them talk.. and then they went on their way. I guess I just don't like to shut the door on someone who is only trying to do what they believe in.

I'm not sure if their specific beliefs are true for all mormon churches, but from what little bit I learned from them over a period of time.. I just felt sad for them. I prayed, and still do pray for them.. as well as anyone else I think/feel may be lost.

So, no.. I do not hate them in any way. I do not hate anyone, no matter what their religious/personal/lifestyle differences may be from my own. Sure, there will always be people who may have things about them (whatever it may be) that I'm not going to agree with or believe in.. but regardless of the situation, I am not the kind of person who is so full of themself as to hate anyone.. especially just for being different than myself.

Take care and God bless!

You should get the other side of the story on Missouri.

The Mormons arrived in a mob and took over the area. They were very confrontational, announcing vehemently that everyone was going to hell unless they converted. They set up their own theocracy and didn't obey or respect the established law or court system. They voted as a bloc, effectively taking over the county government. Joseph Smith announced his intentions to run for governor then president and bring the US under the rule of the LDS church. They persecuted nonmormons. They burned businesses and houses of those they considered a threat. And there were murders.

The 'extermination order' was given in response to a private Mormon army that had been organized in Ohio and was marching to Missouri. The Mormon army actually took the field against the state militia, though there was no battle.

Basically they were like Christian missionaries invading a Pacific island, but in this case the islanders eventually won.

I have been to Salt Lake City a lot but do not hate Mormons.
I do not trust the religion because so much is kept secret.
Also because of how it was founded.

It is a way to keep out the rest of the world and Mormons are not very accepting of others if you ask me. It is more of a cult.

I am a Christian my piano teacher was a Mormon, see was the nicest person... I learned piano from here for 4 or 5 years...

It was sad to know that her view of Christ and the Bible was distorted.... the Bible says that if anyone comes to yoyu with another gospel, wheter human or angel, reject it it is false.... that is what happened to JosephSmith and he wrote another doctrine and added it to the Bible... it was not of God... and that started Mormonism...

Nevertheless I still liked her I don't hate anyone...

"Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them taht hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you and persecute you."- Matthew 5:44, the Bible...

Now if I am supposed to love my enimies, surly I can love others that are not my enimies, and I do......

Why do people like yourself falsely accuse Christians as hatfull hypoctrites? Why do you spread lies about us... I cannot speak for what other so called " christians" did, because they weren't true Christians anyway, then why do you steriotype us negitively....

Ur forgiven, because God wants me to forgive...

I have done nothing towards the Morman comunity...

why does the world hate Christians so much?

Could not have said it better myself...and I am LDS (Mormon). We promote "Love thy neighbor" and good family values, high moral standards, loving and following our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ.
To me, all the ridicule and blasting is a testament that our church is the only true church on this earth! Satan fights the hardest against what he knows God wants...

Probably because of all the garbage that is made up about the church. You can bet that 99% of what you hear about LDS members is untrue.

Because they can't control their teenagers so they send them proselytizing door to door to bother other people. The kids think they are doing it for God but they are really doing it for their leaders who have to find something for them to do. The kids get brownie points.
