We treat our two dogs every month for fleas, and in our old apartment, we never had a problem with fleas. We've moved to another apartment, and now we're having a problem. I'm afraid they're bringing them in, even though they've been treated.

How can I get rid of them in the furniture, carpet, and keep them out!

I understand all this, but how do I keep the dogs from transporting the fleas? Even though we treat the dogs, they are still TRANSPORTING them.

lol fleas! heres some of the things i did
flea collar or drops
give your pet a bath ONCE A WEEK
brush their fur
if its in the carpet clean it likw with a steamer or something

THIS IS THE BEST! AND IT WORKS!
get a dish pan
fill it with water
put dishwasher liquid in and stir it up to make it bubbly
buy a small nite lite- needs to be a bulb with no cover or cover needs to be removed.
plug the light into the wall and place the dishpan of soapy water under it.

if you do this the fleas will be attracted by the light and jump into the pan. Normally fleas can stay on top of water and be fine, but the soap stops this and they fall in and drown.

use a vaccum for the furniture or powder that is safe on fabric and non toxic

The question would be what did you treat them with?? Frontline and Advantage are the best. Lasts 1 month per treatment. For the carpet I would get Mule team borax powder- work it into the carpet with a broom and leave it there for awhile- kills the flea eggs and the larvae. (you can find it in the laundry section of your grocery store) You could try sprays for the furniture- just be very careful some can be very toxic to humans (children)and pets, but not to fleas- I know this makes very little sense- but I've seen it happening with Hartz products. Most shampoos for your dogs do not work to continually repel fleas off your animals, they only kill what's on them right then and then not always. Look closely at your product and consult your vet. Try also contacting your apt. manager- ask them to spray for fleas outside the apt. or do it yourself.

I found a very humane way to rid your house of fleas is to write very small 'no fleas' signs and place them near skirting boards , curtains and sofas Also a stick -on label saying ' no fleas please ' can work very well on a short-haired dog . Make sure you place some of the signs on the end of quite tall sticks, as experiments show that fleas normally read at the highest point of their leaps . If this doesn't work use a megaphone and shout at them , then do the 'flea-riddance' dance which involves leaping and stamping in a circular motion . If you still have no luck , call the Police .

we had that problem once. we lived in a duplex. on the same day the neighbor and us let FLEA BOMBS off in the apartments. make sure you read ALL instructions. all living thing must be out of ALL rooms. take the animals and flea dip them, before bringing them back into the apt. if one person doesn't flea bomb their own place, guess where the fleas that get away will go?
