Zyban and Wellbutrin are both names for the drug called bupropion hydrochloride. Bupropion is an anti-depressant drug which works well as a smoking cessation aid. It has been shown to dramatically reduce nicotine withdrawal symptoms.

The side effects include: abdominal pain, agitation, anxiety, constipation, dizziness, dry mouth, excessive sweating, headache, loss of appetite, nausea, palpitations, vomiting, skin rash, sleep disturbances, sore throat, tremor, loss of interest in sex and weight loss (28 percent of people who take this medication lose 5 pounds or more).

Stop taking Wellbutrin and call your doctor immediately if you have difficulty breathing or swallowing; notice swelling in your face, lips, tongue, or throat; develop swollen arms and legs; or break out with itchy eruptions. These are warning signs of a potential severe allergic reaction.

Since it is an antidepressant, it should help your panic attacks, not make them worse.

taking it for depression. No real side effects. Not too effective in my case any longer, but that is possibly because I am not getting enough. No way to be sure. Wellbutrin is one of the better SSRI's because the side effects are so few

I was prescribed Wellbutrin for depression a few years ago. It made me exceptionally aggressive and drove my anxiety level through the roof! I finally quit after about 2.5 months - I couldn't deal with the hostility and amplified emotions!

I took Wellbutrin XL for a long time, no real side effects, especially not compared to other medications I have been given.

Overall I would say it had no bad side effects at least for me.

I have not, but two close friends did, and both reported it worked really well ( they were both trying to quit smoking)
They actually seemed as calm as I had ever seen them! Neither mentioned panic attacks. Also, they had no problem resisting nicotine while taking it. Good luck, however you use it!

I was on Wellbutrin for 6 months and I liked it. I am even going to ask my current doctor to put me on it.

Pros.
Lost weight
More Energy
BIG SEX DRIVE
No Smoking

Cons:
Edgy
Would gethot flashes

That was about it. The hot flashes were the worst. I would have sweat pouring off me. But my sex drive was fantastic!!

I took it to quit smoking.

I didn't have any adverse effects, really, except that I was higher than a kite while I was on it. In fact, one morning (before coffee), I acutally took the whole day's dosage, instead of just the morning dosage. No trouble except my own worrying that I had poisoned myself.

I have been a quitter for 9 years now! I hope you have as much success as I have!

Yes. Don't take the generic. The real deal stopped a multi- decade smoking habit. Just watch out for weight gain when you quit.

Before I was prescribed my miracle drug paxil, I took wellbutrin and it made me break out in like mosquito bite rash and I am not talking about little skeeter bites, I am talking huge welts the size of softballs and they itched like crazy. I stopped and got on paxil and three years later, I am doing fine.
