Why don't people like dark skinned girls?

Question

I'm black like Kelly Rowland,and I've been told by random people my entire life, that I am beautiful.I feel like crap though.
I hear, in order for a men of other races to like you, you have to be a light skin girl.
I'm quite, well mannerd,and I come form an upper middle class family, so I have the behaviour and education to go with it.
My question is with all this, why do I only get looks from guys outside my race?None of them ever approach me.
Is the light skin thing true, or is that just something people say.

It's true. The light versus dark skin preference has been going on in various societies and cultures for generations, even today. And as ignorant as it is it may continue in this world. However, this is no reason for you to be depressed. Believe you me, every man sneeks a peek when they like what they see.
There are many reasons why a man would not approach you, ie: culture, intimidation, or just awestruck. The list goes on.
So, don't let this depress you. Be your fabulous chocolate self and rock on!!!

Well, being a white man myself, I think most white guys stay away because they are afraid that you won't like them. If you want attention from a white guy, you may have to try a little harder. But I would probably date you if you were the right shape and size (you sound nice enough from what you say, so that's all that would be left to worry about). Actually, my dad seems to like black women for some reason. He's kind of a dirty old man though ;-) But seriously, I think that light skin thing is only partly true. Those guys are either afraid of what their families might say if they brought you home, or afraid that you might not like their color. Try asking a few of them out and see how they behave around you. Honestly I'm dark skin too and I feel your pain.. but if you're young or in highschool try to wait and see when your outside of highschool, go to clubs more and are around mature older people who know exactly what they want. Sometimes guys are afraid or just don't know how to respond to dating outside of their race.. but when your older those stereotypes and fears fade a little trust me honey. When you find a guy that actually loves you for you and appreciates how beautiful you are you're going to feel so silly that you actually cared what other irrelivant boys thought.

I dont know girl. I'm caramel and ive asked my boyfriend if he found dark skinned women attractive cuz I noticed when he would comment about them in the mags or videos, it would be about the light skinned ones being sexy or whatever. Like the models in the music videos. you notice that all the h**s in there are light skinned? I dont get it at all. I think these men are so stuck thinking that this is what is beautiful that they are gonna end up missin out on something good. Its all good girl you should love yourself and soon someone else will too.

I think it varies. I'm brown skinned but a lot different kinds of guys seem to think I'm pretty. I think men vary in taste, if you take good care of yourself and look nice. Of course most men have preferences, but sometimes they change a lot as they mature.

The right person will come around. These guys that are saying these things are just jerks. You are probably gorgeous and they don't think they even have a chance with you so they just put you down. There will be that special someone who loves you for you. Skin color never matters no matter what anyone says. So just think positive and ignore the racism. Your beautiful and they're jealous..

Dark skinned is HOT. Light skinned guys usually will not approach because the chance of acceptance is low.
