you know, in the sixties when I was a little boy, I knew what was going on... young people had a conscience. They refused to accept a brutal unjust war and they said "Hell No We Won't Go" They refused to accept the lies of war mongering Johnson and Nixon... they said no. They went to prison for their beliefs. They refused to participate... Now we have another unjust, unnecessary war... and when I see some of the responses of the very young Republicans on this yahoo answers, frankly, I find it very sad that they have been so duped and cow towed. Today, there are so many distractions... internet, x box, cable, cell phone, i pod the list is endless. This keeps people from really looking at what is going on. Because if you really knew what was happening in Iraq, you would be horrified and you would move to impeach Bush IMMEDIATELY and put him and Cheney up for war crimes. So I say again to the very young... do you know what you're doing when you support George Bush?

Because young people are:
A) scared
B) easy to influence
C) want to belong to a strong majority regardless of the beliefs they have to portrait
D) dumbed down enough by the cuts in education to believe falt-out everything the TV tells them

Here is a nice little quote:
Of course the people don’t want war. But after all it is the leaders of the country who determine the policy. And it is always a simple matter to drag the people along weather it is a democracy, a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leader. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them that they being attacked. And denounce the pacifist for a lack of patriotism and exposing the country to greater danger.

I often ask myself the same questions. It's sad really, I think they feel that they can't be bothered. And that somehow we really are "fighting terror" just like the last hidden specter of the last twilight struggle. We had to fight "communism" well they have simply replaced the faceless enemy with terrorists and use it to wage war for profit. The industrialized nations do not want peace in the developing world, it is only through unrest that the G8 can strip the profits from the war torn lands abroad. The biggest thing that got a lot of people believing in this "war on terror" was 9/11. Bush was planning an attack on Iraq well before September and saw us having to go into Afghanistan as a setback to the goal. Lockheed Martin, Haliburton, and all the other companies that profit when children die used their power and money to get the right people in place that would launch the war that their shareholders needed. And it makes me sick when people really think that we went into Iraq just because Saddam was such a bad man. He was no worse than when gave him money and weapons to gas the people of Iran back in the cold war days. I can't even write anymore I;m becoming too nauseous.

Alot of people are screaming to get out of Iraq. As a moderate I hate Bush on just about every level, and consider him a sell out among other things. However, you are are screaming to get out of Iraq, I ask you "how"? Propose a good solution, anyone can critisize, now, onto another issue... blaming voting trends on xboxes and cell phones are you serious? Old man, go back to your sixties trips, or unscramble your brain. In this new world that all of us face today, lets make no mistake, the war in Iraq is a hopeless situation in from which there is no honorable, or safe policy for disengagement, though it is becoming increasingly necessary by the day. All aside let's not try to combine voter apathy, generational gaps, technology and world conflict in the same statement. The sixties are over Pops, go back to your commune and toke a little more, your not fitted for the modern world.

Iraq isn't our enemy. nor were they involved in 9/11, nor were they terrorist! WMD's had nothing to with 9/11 and Bush KNEW he didn't have them!

What a lame excuse for oil!!

By the way, where is Osama bin Laden?

You can tell how much bush's war on Terrorism, if there were such a thing, he is concerned about!!

"So I don't know where he is. You know, I just don't spend that much time on him... We haven't heard much from him. And I wouldn't necessarily say he's at the center of any command structure. And, again, I don't know where he is. I- I'll repeat what I said. I truly am not that concerned about him."
—Bush, answering a question about Osama bin Laden at a March 13, 2002 news conference.

He isn't that concerned about him! Why not? Wasn't he the real culprit of 9/11? Or would they just have you believe that?!

Well, I'm not young but it seems to me I have just as much right to my beliefs as you have to yours.
"unjust, unnecessary war" - That's your opinion. I like my opinion better.
"duped and cow towed" - That's right, only neocommies are enlightened enough to have the correct opinions. On everything!
"so many distractions" - My cell phone makes it impossible for me to have an intelligent thought.
"impeach Bush" - What impeachable offense is he guilty of? Not what the Air America or the NY Times says he's guilty of but what is he really guilty of? For using his constitutional right as commander in chief to go to war. Congress did approve it by the way.

What would this country do without the great enlightened left? Probably spend a lot of time cleaning up more plane crashes!

I was there during the 60's and it was happening all over the world. Please don't pat yourself on the back too much. There was a movement, creating unrest all over the planet. Seemed like an evil force of some kind. If you want young people to start burning buildings, taking over universities and disrespecting adults again, I suppose they could. I, for one, would not like to see it.

Yes you are right. The Armed Forces even sponsor video game contests and things like that to get kids to sign up. Nowadays they are distracted by entertainment because that is how parents are raising kids nowadays. They are letting video games and T.V. raise their children for them and it is warping today's youth. I still support and pray for every single soldier though and I feel that I still have to support Bush because whether I like him or not, he is the president and he unfortunately speaks for all of us.
