My boyfriend and I recently purchased a conure and we already love him to death. He loves to snuggle, especially under the blankets. But we aren't keen with him sleeping with us like this at night in our bed for obvious reasons. When we put him in his cage, he just clings to the wires and never sits on his perch. He moves around all night and makes little noises. We read that they like nesting boxes and since he likes to be covered with a blanket, we made a little "snuggle box" for him. But he hates it. What else can we try? I'm worried that he isn't getting enough rest. The other thing I should mention is that we have a parakeet, which we keep in our spare bedroom. Eventually we want the conure's cage to sit in the same room as the parakeet's, but they are still in the "getting to know each other phase." Therefore, for now, the conure's cage is in our bedroom. Do we need to move his cage out of our bedroom? Thanks for any advice!

We tried covering him with a blanket the first night he came home with us and just hated it. But we tried it again the other night and he was very quiet. So I think he is starting to adjust to his new home. But my boyfriend let Chester fall asleep with him the other night underneath the blankets, so I hope he doesn't become spoiled now. I can't get over how much he loves sleeping underneath the blankets. Anyways, thanks to everyone for responding.

i have a conure, and we went to the store and bought a little cubby thing and she didnt like it at first, but she warmed up to it. something you could try is leaving the conure in its cage most of the day, and let it get really used to its cage and dont be near it a lot, so they wont hang on the bars to be closer to you, then he/she'll move onto the perch to rest. the blanket is a good idea too, but some birds just like to sleep on the bars or hanging. try some of these and let me know if they work.

Me too! Yeah, it's easiest to do that, and keep on encouraging it by saying like " Sleeptime, Night Night." or something. But usually cover the cage, or dont make anynoise, and make it dark. Email me for more questions or go to
