It's very surprising that many devout Christians who spend a lot of time studying the Bible have no idea that the Name of God has been translated in many Bibles as "LORD" or "GOD." They are also unaware that the Hebrews of long ago were the first to do the very same thing; they forgot the Name of God, and for want of something to call Him, they called Him "Baal." [Jeremiah 23:27] "Baal" is simply a word from a Semitic language that meant lord, husband, or master.
Obviously, there is nothing inherently wrong with the words "lord" or even "Baal," for God could certainly be called a Lord or Master. It is wrong only when the title "Lord" is used exclusively as a proper name after the True Name has been forgotten.
The fact that the ancient Hebrews considered the Divine Name too sacred to be uttered was not and is not a Jewish superstition -- but it was and is a Divine Command. [Matthew 7:6] The Divine Name should never be uttered aloud in this world, and neither should it be written in its true form in this world. The Name was never recorded in its true form in the Hebrew Scriptures, but was always indicated by a certain set of letters for the benefit of those who knew the Name.
The same was true of the writings of the early Christians who knew the Truth. The Name into which they were all baptized was never recorded in their writings in its true form. This is not a superstition -- there is a very good reason for it.
The True Name is not known by anyone today and is now quite lost. Some have chosen to call God by the name Yahweh or even Jehovah, but these are simply more substitutes when the correct Name is not known. Because of the importance quite obviously given to the Name of God throughout the Scriptures, it's surprising that so very few have attached any significance to the lost Name. The lost Name is also the lost Word, and when the Word is lost, so also is the Truth lost.
The ancient Hebrews forgot the Name of God at the same time that they forgot the Truth. When the Name was forgotten, they adopted a substitute, "Baal," and when the Truth was forgotten, they adopted a substitute, their own traditions.
The Gentiles were then given the Name and the Truth as the New Testament writings show. The Gentiles have nothing to boast about to the Jews as they have followed exactly in their footsteps. When the Gentiles forgot the Name, they substituted "Lord," and when they forgot the Truth, they substituted their own traditions.
When the Name is known, so also is the Word and the Truth known. The Divine Name is of the utmost importance for nothing can be done without it -- and nothing can be done with a substitute.

I am a Jehovah's Witness and I need to correct you. We did not change Jesus to Jehovah. We worship Jehovah as Almighty God and we give honor to his Son Jesus Christ as our reigning King in heaven. Jesus said that his Father's name is hallowed or sanctified, but apparenly the KIng James translators thought differently. They substituted God's personal name for LORD. When you see Lord with a capital L, that stands for Jesus. This shows they are not part of a trinity.
Satan tried to tempt Jesus with all the kingdoms of the world. Do you think that he could ever tempt Almighty God?--No, and he would never have tried, but he did try to tempt God's Son.
Please have the correct information before you ask a question.

You might be able to deceive fellow humans, but you cannot fool Jehovah. (Heb. 4:13) Time and again the Scriptures exhort us to be honest with one another, for liars will have no place in an earth swept clean of unrighteousness. (Prov. 14:2; Rev. 21:8; 22:15) The reason for that should be clear. The promoter of all untruth is none other than Satan the Devil. John 8:44.
Making honesty our way of life brings numerous benefits. Among them are a clean conscience and the satisfaction of being trusted by others. But, the most important benefit, is that honesty wins us the friendship of Almighty God. Psalm 15:1,2.
No more for the desires of men, but for God’s will. For the time that has passed by is sufficient for US to have worked out the will of the nations when WE proceeded in deeds of loose conduct, lusts, excesses with wine, revelries, drinking matches, and illegal idolatries. Because WE do not continue running with them in this course to the same low sink of debauchery, they are puzzled and go on speaking abusively of US. But these people will render an account to the one ready to judge those living and those dead

The king James changes God's name, YHWH, to Lord in the old testament, and to notice this you would need to read Hebrew, not Greek.
The Tetragrammaton (Greek: ÏεÏÏαγÏάμμαÏον; "word with four letters") is the usual reference to the Hebrew name for God, which is spelled (in the Hebrew alphabet): × (yodh) × (heh) × (vav) × (heh) or ×××× (YHWH). It is the distinctive personal name of the God of Israel.

These Trinitarian attacks are intended to insult and demean Jehovah's Witnesses, rather than to accurately represent the Witnesses' teachings.
Jehovah's Witnesses teach that no salvation occurs without Christ, that accepting Christ's sacrifice is a requirement for true worship, that every prayer must acknowledge Christ, that Christ is the King of God's Kingdom, that Christ is the head of the Christian congregation, that Christ is immortal and above every creature, even that Christ was the 'master worker' in creating the universe! Both secular dictionaries and disinterested theologians acknowledge that Jehovah's Witnesses are a Christian religion.
Rather than quoting from such trinitarian sources as philosophy, Greek mythology, and quotes from other Babylon-loving Trinitarians, Jehovah's Witnesses believe that the Scriptures alone quite plainly demonstrate that Jesus and the Almighty are separate distinct persons, and the Almighty created Jesus as His firstborn son.
(Colossians 1:15) the firstborn of all creation
(Mark 10:18) Jesus said to him: 'Why do you call me good? Nobody is good, except one, God.
(Revelation 3:14) the Amen says, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation by God
(Philippians 2:5-6) Christ Jesus, who, although he was existing in God's form, gave no consideration to a seizure, namely, that he should be equal to God
(John 8:42) Neither have I come of my own initiative at all, but that One sent me forth
(John 12:49) I have not spoken out of my own impulse, but the Father himself who sent me has given me a commandment as to what to tell and what to speak
(John 14:28) I am going my way to the Father, because the Father is greater than I am
(1 Corinthians 15:28) But when all things will have been subjected to him, then the Son himself will also subject himself to the One who subjected all things to him
(Matthew 20:23) this sitting down at my right hand and at my left is not mine to give, but it belongs to those for whom it has been prepared by my Father
(1 Corinthians 11:3) I want you to know that the head of every man is the Christ; ...in turn the head of the Christ is God
(John 20:17) I am ascending to my Father and your Father and to my God and your God.
(Deuteronomy 6:4) Jehovah our God is one Jehovah
(1 Corinthians 8:4-6) There is no God but one. For even though there are those who are called "gods," whether in heaven or on earth, just as there are many "gods" and many "lords," there is actually to us one God the Father
Jesus reminded certain Jewish troublemakers that the Jewish law required judges to accept the testimony of two distinct persons, but the word of just one testifyer was insufficient.
(Deuteronomy 19:15) At the mouth of two witnesses or at the mouth of three witnesses the matter should stand good. [See also Deut 17:6]
When the Pharisees tried to protest that Jesus' claim to be "the light of the world" should be rejected as the claim of a single person, Jesus reminded them that a distinct, separate person confirmed Jesus' own testimony:
(John 8:17-19) Also, in your own Law it is written, ‘The witness of two men is true.’ I am one that bears witness about myself, and the Father who sent me bears witness about me.”
Clearly, such clear logic on Jesus' part would have been significantly muddied if Jesus himself were also claiming to be God. The Jews knew that Jesus never taught that he was God, but rather that Jesus was a separate and distinct person, the Son of God.

Yes it is sad. There have been a few changes to God's word over the years.Perhaps those changes are rooted in the fact that; in God's eyes, man is a false God (Gen. 3)
