My pug eats a good bit. Is that O.K?
I'm not sure myself. We feed her and she gets big and strong.
Will this be bad later in her pug life?

Pugs can be quiet later in their lives which can lead to obesity, while it's true that your pug shouldn't eat too much, consider the food that you are feeding her. Low quality foods don't have as much nutrition and often dogs feel that they need to eat more of it just so that they feel satisfied. Try feeding your pug a denser dog food, something with more meat as the protein as opposed to grains. Read the food label carefully the first five ingredients are very important, if neccessary do some investigations of your own, there is a lot of info online.

There are many brands that you can try, whatever you do, make sure that you make the change slowly, and stick with it long enough to see if the changes are useful.

I've been told that the solid gold is a great brand that dogs love it, my dog really likes the Merrick's canned foods though.

Good luck!

Feeding guidlines are just that, guidlines - change the amount she gets to keep her at a good weight. You should not be able to easly SEE her ribs but you should be easily able to FEEL them if you run your hand down her side. Looking at her outline she should have a "waist" - IE her belly should come up after the end of her ribcage (not a huge amount in a pug but some) I thake it she's a pup so don't panic if she puts on a growth sourt & gets a LITTLE lean or slows up & get a tad chunky

You should feed your dog the correct amount for its weight. If it should be no more then 13 lbs then check on the back of bag for amount per day. Limit treats to once per day if at all. Feed carrots, frozen peas for healthy treats.

If you feed only premium dog food like INNOVA, Candidae, Solid Gold, etc. -- dogs tend to require less food and drink more water.

Skip the canned food because you don't want a fat pug.

You shouldn't feed her more than what a dog her size and age should be eating, and make sure you're feeding her a good quality diet. You don't want an obese dog, it's just as bad for them as it is for people to be overweight - it can lead to heart as well as other problems.

AS long as your dog is not getting fat that is ok.
Pugs are small and can have joint problems and you do not want them carring around a lot of extra weight so keep her slim and you should be good to go for many years.
